    whats everybody reading?

I love Harlan Coben...but I have to wait until April for his new book. Nobody does suspense lie Harlan. I am currently reading The Hour I First beleived" by Wally Lamb. It is his first book in 10 years...and so worth the wait. I normally read a book in two or three days, but I am savoring this one because I don't want it to end.
  2. Here is the latest from my "Before and During" pics. I am 10 months out today and I am down 72lbs. I have gone from a size 22 to a 14 and now those are getting small too.
  3. Good afternoon everyone. This is my first time posting pics, mostly because I haven't taken any since my surgery, but here goes nothing. It amzes me when I look at these the differences. 42 lbs GONE FOREVER!!!
  4. I used Spiegel for my surgery in December and it took me 8 months to get insurance approval. I was required to complete a 6 month weight loss program with my MD before I could even be submitted for approval. Do you know what your insurance guidelines for approval were? I have never heard of getting an approval that fast. And most insurance companies have 30 days. Hope that helps!!! Good luck to you. It has been an awesome journey. :biggrin2:
  5. Dear food, I know it has been a long time since we really sat down and enjoyed each other. I know I have been distant since New Year's Eve, but I promise when I tell you that I hadn't cheated up until that night. I know that this may all come as a surprise, but I have been seeing someone else. Someone who makes me feel better about mysef than you. This new person gives me hope, helps me through a stressful day and in the end I hope will be my dearest companion. I know that over the last 32 years I have enjoyed my life with you, food. But I must say goodbye. While I will love what you can do to pizza, mexican and Italian all the same, but these are all of the horrible things got me and you where we are today. You should have known for a while that I was unhappy. You knew I was a seeing the doctor for 6 months, in an effort to remove you from my life. I will miss the comfort you gave me for so many years, but I will not miss the regret I felt after. I shouldn't throw it in your face, but my new friend well, his name is Lapband, and we couldn't be getting along any better. Best Wishes to you and yours. May we only meet again when absolutely necessary. R- :wink2::rolleyes2::smile::cool2:
  6. For what it is worth, my surgeon performs a lot of gastric corrections. He reverses in some way ( I have no idea) the bypass and then puts in a band. His patients do have a good success rate from what I understand.

    Hello from Houston,Texas!!!

Vinnie, It does take a few days, I was lucky and went right before my surgery, but then not again for 4 days. I am now 17 days post op and having to "maintain the bathroom" issues with extra Fiber. I can actually get that pill down. Woo hoo!!!:pray2::rolleyes2:
  8. Good evening everyone. I was banded nearly two ago (tomorrow is my two weeks, and my throat is very sore when I swallow. I had an incident on Friday night and vomitted and then on Saturday my throat started hurting. But it hurts low, like where my neck meets my chest? Any ideas? I am terrified that something is wrong. Please tell me one bout of vomitting could not have moved my band. Any info is welcome, thanks!! :welldoneclap::confused::wink:

    Any Dr. Speigel patients

Firecracker, I was banded by Spiegel on December 31st and only found out I was approved for surgery on the 28th so it all happened so fast. Call the office and ask about the process. I can tell for the pre-op all I did was go to the office in the Galleria and they weighed me, gave his post-op handbook and made me sign the the consent forms. They then send you to UGH to do your bloodwork, EKG, and chest X-ray. That only took about an hour and a half and most of that was wait time. I know that sometimes Spiegel gets a bad wrap, but my personal theory is that I don't need him to coddle me, he is merely the surgeon giving me the tool I need. This is my journey. Only you can make it happen post op. I wish you the best.

    Hello from Houston,Texas!!!

Vinnie You are in my thoughts and if it helps, it wasn't that bad. I stayed overnight @ UGH and I had a pretty easy time at it. The trick is to get up and moving. I walked the halls as much as I could that night in the hospital. I am still on liquids and I drink a lot of Water, and several Slim-Fast's everday. broth is also good. I could finally add creamy Soups this week and that has been a God send, I was starving!!! The first week drink drink drink so that you can hydrate. Hope to hear from you on the 15th that everything was well.
