I'm home and banded!

Hi all,

I just got home this morning from my surgery yesterday (15th!). I've been pretty sore - kind of like I have done a million crunches.

I went to the hospital at 7am and was taken to my room. I put my "special" gown on and my precious little hat and was taken to the theatre at about 9.15. My gorgeous anaesthetist put my IV in first go and gave me some sedation. That was the last thing I remember.

I woke up back in my room, although a do remember snippets from recovery. I was in pain and had some pethidine. I was started on Water to sip, which I really didn't feel like, but I tried. I shared a room with another bandster who was feeling it a lot more than me.

I've had a little sleep and feel a little better. The hospital experience was pretty good, I can't complain, although it felt like the longest night!

Sipping lots,

Jen

I had a bad night last night. I think my antibiotic got stuck. I had some pineapple juice and it seemed to fix it! I did get to sleep for about 6 hours last night in my own bed, tolerated lying down pretty well.

Have had some V8 juice for Breakfast (it is a juice drink that has one serve of fruit and one serve of vegies in one drink). Thinking about trying some thin Soup for lunch.

Oh forgot to add - the puppies were really good. Like they could sense that I was "fragile" and sat by my feet all night. They aren't big enough to jump on me, so I am lucky.

Wow.... I know its painful but youre on the way to looking great, feeling wonderful and starting a new you. I am happy for you!

Thanks Dazzle.

I seem to have a stuck feeling in the bottom of my throat. I'm assuming it's gas. I'm having trouble burping, which is a first for me.

My wounds are itchy (I know that this happens when they are healing) and I'm starting to notice some bruising. I'm much more comfortable than last night and I'm looking forward to a full night's sleep.

Going to have a coffee Optifast for dinner tonight - it's a new flavour in Australia, so hopefully it tastes nicer than the chocolate one!

I Know What You Mean About Burping, Jen. Last Night Was So Awful, I Had All This Gas Trapped And Couldn't Get It Out. After A Half Hour Of That I Called My Doctor...she Said To Take Milk Of Magnesia..boy Did That Work!! Lol

Hi Greeneyez,

I'm glad you are doing OK. I am on my 3rd. day and I am starving!!! I am only supposed to have clear liquids, but I called and asked if I could have a protein shake and they said I could. I'm working tomorrow. I hope you recover fast. Good luck. Diane

Hi guys,

I feel so much better today! My belly distension has gone down, I can move around much more easily and I LOVE coffee optifast! I'm sure I will get sick of it pretty quick, though.

I think I just burp differently now. i've had a few small ones :tt1:

I do feel a little dizzy though, I need to have more Fluid today, I struggled yesterday. For anyone thinking about having it done, or in the early stages of recovery, hang in there, it does get better!

I am glad to be here in this forum. I will definetly be prepared when I get my surgery. Good to here you re doing better, greeneyez

This forum is great! Thanks so much all you brave gals for sharing your stories with us. I'm not banded yet, I'm still so afraid but hopefully you guys will help. I'm sick of being fat.
