Anyone here form keloid scars? What did you/will you do?

Recommended Posts

I form awful keloid scars. I'm a little bit concerned about my laprascopic incisions when they heal. My cesarean scar looks awful, and even the tiniest scar looks terrible. Any suggestions for what I could do to minimize scarring?

The OB who did my cesarean said she would do something special during suturing to help minimize keloids...but whatever it was didn't work.

I'd like to hear from others who form keloids how they turned out and if you did anything special.

I have got one keloid from the surgery - the one just above my belly button. Everyday I put something called bio-oil on it (also oil used from stretch marks, scars etc - might be an NZ product not sure) and it seems to be starting to fade after five months.

My son has keloided scars. One of his biosiblings also has them. His is partially hidden by his eyebrow, don't ask, he arrived with it at the age of 3 1/2 yrs old.

Anyway the pediatrican recc. coco butter 3 times a day. After a year it started to look somewhat better, but it still looks like a keloid, ropey pink scar thing. Thankfully he's a boy and scars are cool.

BTW he's 7 1/2 yrs old now, so it's been 4 years of coco butter.

Yes...my scars do the same. I can say that even if I got down to 100 pounds I will not ever be wearing a bikini. They aren't terrible, but they are still there, still pink and still puffy. I did buy some Mederma, but I didn't buy it until about four months after surgery and on the back it says for older scars to apply three times a day. I'm going to try it out, but I really haven't been good with it yet. For new scars, I think that you only have to do it once a day for like three months. So...if you haven't been banded yet, you might want to check that out. I hear it's the best stuff out there for scars. I knew that my scars would do that, but I figured that a couple of scars across my tummy is better than breaking the scales with my weight. Good luck.

I recommend using Kelo-cote which you can purchase at this link:

Kelo-cote Scar Gel Skincare Product at SkinStore.com

Since you develop keloid scars, you may be well served by visiting a COSMETIC dermatologist and discuss your scar situation and your upcoming surgery. That's what I did, and my cosmetic dermatologist here in New York City recommended Kelo-Cote.

Go to the Scar Stages link. I posted my scar pics there, and you can see how well I have healed. I posted 3-day and 20-day scars. They are even better now that I am 8 weeks post-op.

My band scar is keloid while the lap scars did not. My plan is..after I have the skin removal surgery, I'll see what's there to work with and probably..maybe...have it tattooed.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
