All hairdresser may say they do up dos but they don't! I quit doing updo because I never really did that many, and it would take me FOREVER and still not look that great! I would for sure schedule an appointment for a trial and just playing around to see what you like best. Do you go to a regular person? If so they should help you!

LUCY, I'M HOOOMME...

Hi girls! Glad I found ya. I've got tons to catch up on. I'm gonna back this evening and read up on everyone's adventures. My grandma got sick right after Christmas so me and my mom went down to stay with her. Sigh, she and grandpa refused to come live with us. My grandpa has mild alzheimer's and she's been healing from a broken calf for months now. Her leg wasn't setting well so they put her back in a cast. Fill ya'll in later. I'm at work right now and my boss won't take to kindly to me playing on the internet when I've been gone for almost two weeks! Eeekkk.... Glad to be back.

Tracy - how beautiful you are and I love the dress and yes, up with the hair!

Terry - what a very nice thing you are doing. i am sure Tracy will be just as happy as I am with mine. You have a special gift.

Pam - thanks for starting this and glad we are going to cloe the other, I know we tried that once before and we just never moved.

Well, another day, I wore my new jeans and got so many compliments. I would love a pic but don't think i want to see myself on film yet, I actually borderline like the way I look and don't want to destroy that. Tried to get my hair trimmed and eyebrows done today so I look extra good for court next week, if nothing else, I have to look better than the EX!

Going to dad's bday dinner tonight, not looking forward to that because step mom made her vanilla pudding/pineapple cake, OMG so moist and yummy and I am not going to have any. WE are not going to dinner because I am having problems eating anything these days because of the antibiotics and the kids won't eat sauce and they are having chicken catchatori (sp). Dad just called me back from when I called him hours ago and he has no idea we are going over or what he is doing for dinner... nice huh?

I think i'm going to close my eyes for 30 mins... no wonder why i don't sleep well. LOL

Glad to have you back Haydee, now I wonder where Gina is??? Going to have to email her I suppose. For awhile she was posting here, and on the NJ thread I chat on---but she has not been in either place of late!

Hope your Grandma is healing! She is lucky to have you and your Mom!

Shoveled the snow---it is wet and heavy! Was good exercise! It has finally stopped snowing for awhile---so thought I would get at least the first batch off, so I could do it easier next time! I walked out, and decided to start at the end of the sidewalk---so walked down that way when out from the side of my house come about a dozen deer--scared the heck outta me! They went across the road, by me neighbors van, and stood around and watched me! So I come back in, and cleaned out the crisper, threw some cauliflower and broccoli, and bagged salad, all past its prime, but still good for them into the yard, and within minutes they were back out there!

Yep Tracy, I'd ask the one who usually does your hair. Or check around, ask some High schoolers who does theirs for Prom. You could go with babies breath sprigs in your hair, or small flowers to match your bouquet. Or if you go for something like a french twist, you could use a flower adorned comb to hold the twist. When my DD got married, they used these teeny tiny rhinestones, small, not much bigger than glitter, and stuck them in her hair, you could not really see them from afar, but you caught the glint of them, even though she wore a veil it was really pretty!

You know it is the old

Something Old

Something New

Something Borrowed

Something Blue

But doncha think you need something VIOLET???!!!

Jane---did the Dr. ever call with your CT results?? Keep us posted!

Well, off to fold the next load of laundry......see ya later!

Evening, Violets.. Holy Smokes, I can't believe the weather here!!!!! We are in the midst of a THUNDERSTORM complete with lots of lightning and rain. I have never seen it do this in January in Michigan!! I was talking to DD on the cell phone when lightning hit close by and the phone started doing crazy things... I couldn't get it to shut off, finally it did and when it came back on it said no service... couple of mintues later it was ok. Poor Jetta the garage dog is wanting to come in the house cause she's scared of thunder. I let her out for a minute cause it was time for her to pee and I stayed in the garage for a little bit to give her some lovin'. I think the storm has passed through now.. Boy, that was something!!

Hey Violets.. don't you think we all should wear purple and head to Tracy's wedding??? Wouldn't that be a hoot to see us all together waving and giggling as she walked down the aisle????!!!

Haydee.. glad to see you back. Sorry about your grandparents.

Has Sara just disappeared for good?? Did I miss something about Lunasa?? (pretend you hear me singing here..)Where have all the flowers gone???

I got a new pressure cooker today and am going online to see if I can find some good recipes.

Catch ya later..

Welcome back Haydee!!

Tracy-LOVE the dress! Definitely hair up :P

Well everyone, 2 things happened today. #1-BP the job I applied for) e-mailed and said I didn't fit their "criteria" but thanks anyway....mind boggling. And #2-I got my bonus at work....finally. The boss said "we did not have that great of a year, blah blah blah, so its not that much". I told him anything is better than nothing. So I am happy about that.

I was gonna say something else, but now I don't remember what....I will pop back in later :)

My friends who were lost in the snow are going to be one of the stories on ABC World News among others.

Shannon is the one saying she really wants a shower---thats my girl!! Her Mom, is the gray haired woman who says her heart is working again.

I am so happy they are ok! It could have been so bad.

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.
