Shrinkin' Violets- Part 2 Read Here

Hey Violets~

We are back and ready for this...2 cars are in the garage...and all her (and mine) crapola! We are officially co-habitating (except for the next 6 weeks as she sleeps in the barracks during the week...and then from May14-June 16 when she will be in Phoenix w/ her mom)...other than that...it is official:blush::thumbup:

We had German noodles and pork chops...repeat tonight! Gotta go, her parents are leaving now...w/ a truck load of her crapola to take to the Phoenix house! WOW

Jenn~ FEEL BETTER HONEY!

Michelle~ Follow your dd's lead. If you make a big deal of it, she will feel "weirder" than not. If it bothers her for real, not just her crying because she was embarrassed, then I would seek some help. I would bet this subtle OCD has popped up in other areas of her life. Often times, it helps students in school too! Take a deep breathe and follow her lead!

OK...off to eat cake!

Colorado- Welcome and I will add my support for "I wish I had done this sooner". I Love my band and you will too. One other thing I would recommend is hanging out here as much as you can. These girls have gotten me thru more than they will ever know.

We went to a retirement party today and believe it or not but I didn't eat anything. Hubby said with me not eating and him not smoking we just don't know what to do with ourselves yet. LOL.

I'm one for having wallpaper in my house in a few rooms. I don't really like to hang it, but I enjoy taking it down. Did my in-laws house after they passed away. I did a few other houses also. I just seem to enjoy it.

Hope everyone is having a great weekend.

WOOHOO Pam! Isn't marriage legal in Cali for gay couples? I just read some story in my cultural studies class about a lesbian couple getting married (legally) in San..Diego?

I was 237lb last night. Emberassed to admit it. ARGH!! Since I was -99lb I stalled, then I finally got to -101.. now I'm bouncing between 234-237lb. SIGH. Glad I scheduled a fill next week!!! Very discouraged right now. I can't stop here, I want to see what I look like in the 100's... haven't been in the 100's since elementary school.

Went to Cato's tonight and got some new shirts, then went to JC Penney and got some Barely There slimming tanktops. So tired of looking frumpy!

I just checked and the fill place is in Farmington Mo, which is a very odd place I think. There is nothing there, so I am surprised to find that. It is about 2 or 3 hours away. It is $349 for a fill.

I wish this was easier!! I guess that what happens when I go to a Dr. that doesn't have a big practice....

Thank Laura~

No, marrage is not legal in Cali...I wish. It is only legal in Mass now. You can have a civil union...but not a marriage. To me it is kinda tomato/tomato (not quite the same typing tomato/tomato as it is saying it, lol). I thank God for her and am blessed to have her in my life.

Is that through a Fill Center USA? If it is, the first visit is $349 including the fill, then each fill or adjustment is like $165, and a visit with the Dr. is $85 without a fill. I understand the first visit includes all the history, and junk----but only the first visit is that expensive. Then if you are new they do offer a yearly package.

They contract with Dr.'s willing to do followup care but that do not do the surgery itself.

I spent a loooooot of time on the phone with a patient coordinator with Fill Centers USA the last couple of days!!!!

Some of the centers are in more obscure places, since they simply want Dr.'s or radiologists and Dr.'s who do not actually do the surgery, but will follow up ANY patient, not dependent upon where the surgery was done.

I had a Dr. call me as well as a Supervisor, both offering helpful ideas....they seemed anxious to help me, especially considering I had not been a patient prior to the call for help.

I was impressed by the girl I spoke with off and on all day.

We had a shootout between gang members and cops at our Chilis Restaurant!!! And my son and DIL, and DD and SIL were all there having dinner---the cops involved sat behind them, and one of the cops was playing with his flashlight beam on the floor with my grandson!

They left, went to Home Depot, son went in---grabbed what he needed, and DIL and Connor stayed in the truck, then when they drove back by there were cops, and ambulances, and all kinds of chaos!!!

SCARY!!!!!

Suzanne, I like your Bewitched thingie too!!! You may have to fly both colors!!! LOL

Laura----I STAY frumpy! Nothing fits right----it sucks!

Well I am off to bed.......

See you tomorrow!!

Kat

Good evening, Violets..

I'm headed to bed too. Have to be up early to get ready for church an hour away. Then home and back to the wallpaper stripping. Actually it's going pretty smoothly. I kinda like doing it too, Suzie! Pretty sad when that's my big thrill of the day! lol

I'm really excited about church and for the first time, I'm looking forward to being someplace new and I'm figuring out what I'm going to wear. The choice is not between basic black and black, but between a closet full of clothes in sizes I only dreamed about a year ago!! Life is good in bandland.

Everyone have a good night. sleep well!!

We went out for ribs for lunch and I ate the meat from 2 bones and a few onion petals and up it came. I'm just not taking small enough bites, I guess. You'd think after almost a year I'd learn!!
Y'know those little ice cream sample spoons? The teeny tiny ones that hold about 1/4 of a tsp?? I read a newbie on here wondering where she could get some...that's what her doctor recommended she use for a guide on how big her bites should be!!! Uh....ok. I think I better go back to LapBand School!!! Actually, I do pretty well in general...but meat is sooooo tricky!! It's a crap shoot every time.

I torched and pounded metal most of the day. I also took a nap...which I rarely do. That's it. Totally not a productive day in any real sense. And now I'm so sleepy I can barely keep my eyes open. Sad.

Nite-nite!!

Good morning, Violets.

I see you all sleeping there!! We're up early for church. Got my outfit all ready.. yellow sweater with white tee shirt underneath, khaki skirt and brown suede high heel boots. Soooooooooo much better than basic black in plus sizes!! Just let Jetta out and my Crystal Light is in the freezer. Off to curl my hair and put make up on and then I just might be ready!! Everyone have a great day. Relax, enjoy and make wise choices! I'll check back later this afternoon when I take a break from stripping wallpaper.

Terry.... I use a baby spoon here at home for most meals. I'd be too self conscious taking the little blue rubber dipped spoon out in public. But maybe the pink one..... hmmmmmmmm

Good Morning.

Terri, My Doctor's office hands out eating utensils for us to use. They are child size but have adult size handles. They are actually kind of nice looking.

Not much going on in my world today. It's supposed to rain this afternoon. I've got the ham bone cooking in Water right now so I can use it to make some Ham and Beans with. I'll make some corn bread. Hope the family enjoys it.

I did bad with the ice cream last night. I had such a good food day and than ruined it last night. Thought I might go walk it off this morning but I really need to geive my ankles a rest today. 3 straight days of a mile or more walk is taking it toll.

Everyone have a great day.

Good Sun Morn, Vi's~~

Another busy running around day... off in a few to travel 1+ hr each way to ds's soccer scrimmage... so we'll leave around 10am & I think we'll be back by 3pm = 5 HOURS! His sis & I deserve medals!! Then maybe another (local) soccer practice/play day thing from 4:30-6pm... good thing the Easter bunny brought me the latest Oprah mag for Easter last week! + at tonight's soccer, I'm going to walk the track while they play... that's my new strategy... I must walk at least 30 mins at all soccer practices! Sneaky, huh??

Ok... gotta grab some b'fast & hit the road.

I'm sure dh is lounging around his hotel room... stinker!

Four days post surgery. I am sipping as fast as I can and getting NO WHERE near the goal of 60 - 80 grams of protein or the 64 oz of liquids. I just feel FULL. I don't know if it can still be the gas build up (I would think by now that would be gone) but it is a struggle to drink. And so far I have not had the nausea or spasms and don't want to wander into that territory by pushing too hard with liquids. I about passed out today as it was my most "strenuous" day. Went from second story to basement for shower and I was sure I was going to pass out. Looking back on my last few days I have had a total of less than 1000 calories. Am I just not getting enough nourishment in me? Once again a friday where I can't get ahold of the doc until Monday rolls back around so I am hoping maybe someone here has some experience on how to keep energy going. I do have fibromyalgia too and that may be where some added fatigue comes into play. How did you all fair with the goals the week after surgery?

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I'm in Houston so kind of near you and had the sleeve in Dec. Down 61 lbs. Feeling better. Was definitely worth it. I hope the everything is going well for you. Update us when you can!

I am back home after my bypass surgery in Tiajuana. I'm post op day 4. Everything went great! I guess I'm one of the lucky ones who have not encountered much pain at all, no nausea thus far and I'm having no problem keeping down broths and water. Thank you for your well wishes. I cant wait to keep up this journey and have a chance at better health and simply better quality of life. I know there will be bumps in the road ahead, and everything won't be peaches and cream, but at least I have a great start so far. 😍

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

      2. Doughgurl

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!
