quick question...I know we had talked about this before BUT the chantix is working overtime.

Last time I had my lip waxed i had a horrible rash breakout. What were some of the alternatives you ladies mentioned?

I don't do my upper lip, but I have heard the bleaching stuff is good for that? I see it at Walgreens all the time. Oh, also the lady who waxes my eyebrows, she also does some string thing.. she rubs a string back and forth really quick and it 'plucks' the hair out. She said she does it for facial hair (cheeks, lips, etc.). See if your salon has that?

Sometimes I get to do fun stuff at my job hehe. We're always buying promotional items, we did some generic white tiger beanie babies years ago-- everyone loved them.... the place that makes them, stopped making them though. So then I found us these little white tiger keychains.. They're cute, but everyone wants beanie babies again.

I found some UGLY generic beanie baby white tigers (bulk) for $4.00 each at 100. 400 bucks for UGLY beanie babies. Then I saw TY made white tiger beanie babies in 1996- Blizzard. Just to see, I called some toy stores online, asking how many they can get.. prices, etc.

I finally found somewhere that was able to get 200 of them, for $2.25 each. Wow. A retired beanie baby for cheap. And all the other toy stores, the most any were able to get was about 20-50 of them. So cool, just ordered a bunch of beanie babies!

Yep, Tracy, pretty soon we'll be a plastic family... After I got banded another one of my aunts went down there and got her nose and her boobs done. Then a few months after that another aunt got boobs and a butt implants. Now today another aunt is getting boobs and face lift. In May, my cousin is going to go get boobs done. Can you tell that we were not so blessed in the boob department in my family? The only woman in my whole family that has sizeable boobs is Erika. We have no idea where who she got that from. Everyone else has mosquito bites. My boobs are unfortunately fast getting to be mosquito bites. They're shrinking faster than my gut is...

TracyK - the only thing that works for me is plucking. I pluck each friggin hair one by one. The wax gives me a rash and then I get like this thick crust on my upper lip. OMG, it's so gross. And the bleach also gives me a rash. I've never tried threading, which is what Laura is saying, but I would assume it's just like plucking. The thread plucks each hair out of you very quickly. I've seen it done, just never had it done myself... For whatever reason my skin has become super super sensitive ever since I was banded. I don't know if there is a correlation at all but it really has...

Tracyk~ I use dipilatory cream on my upper lip...and I only need to do it about 4-5 times a year (maybe less). I do have my brows waxed...but the wax on my lip gave me big puffy blisters...how cute is that. I have NO problems w/ the cream...and it is about 6 bucks at the drug store. I have sensitive skin and I have no probs w/ the cream. Also, Susanne uses the cream w/ no probs.

Kat~ I agree...perhaps you need to fly somewhere to get the unfil. Sorry your dealing w/ this. Keep at least one of us posted.

Haydee! We have a new violet!! Sending purple power to Erica for a fast recovery.

peaceout

I was asking about 'threading', and my waxing lady demonstrated on my arm.

But I've also accidentally plucked a hair from my upper lip and my eyes were watering bad. Oy. When I have to do stuff for my upper lip, I'm crossing my fingers on bleaching hehe.

Hi girls--

Well flying to my surgeon, is not really an option. I would have to fly to San Diego, and then drive for a couple hours---I cannot get a passport til I get my name changed.....a damn good reason to get that done, but I cannot change it and my ID until after our trip or my travel doc's and my ID wouldn't match!!!

I called my Uncle for help. He is an MD----he has a friend who does lots of band things. He actually called me, we talked for quite awhile, and he told me he was going to recommend something a bit unorthodox for a band Dr. to say-----but he told me to totally empty my stomach, even if I had to gag myself, and then to have some HOT---as hot as I could handle it Water or preferably sweetened tea---as I could use the sugar--and drink it in a sipping manner, but as quickly as I could. His theory was that with this getting so tight during me being sick, I was just as likely plugged with mucus (like we discussed Tracy) as I was super swollen. He said after 2 years with no more than 2cc.'s he couldn't imagine me swelling that much. So I tried the throwing up, got a small amount of greenish snotty slime-------sorry it is so gross----but that is the sinus junk I am dealing with. I drank one coffee mug about 1/2 full of hot tea. It stayed down. Well like I told Rick, my stomach holds that much! It doesn't mean it is going through, until I have to potty, I will have no idea if it went through, and I am so dehydrated it might not even make me go! So about a half an hour later, I drank another 1/2 a mug. So far both are down, and I am not hurting golf ball style or anything.

Jeff, my Uncles friend told me, that depending on why the band is swollen depends on what you treat with hot or cold. He said the make up of the band....indicates hot--being plastic and silicone, the warmth eases it. If the issue is stomach, sometimes cool eases the swelling, as in following a fill. But since I had not really done that, I wanted to work within the band, and if it was mucus plugged, then the warmth might dislodge the blockage.

I am not having pain.....I felt like hell yesterday, I was running over 103 fever, but when that went away, I feel fine. I am not starving....I was terribly thirsty, the tea helped. Still not sure if it is going through or not.

Fill Centers USA--as a rule has been wonderful! The patient coordinator I talked to has called me hourly to check on me, and been trying to work things for me. Found me a Fill Center in Heber Arizona, she said she googled it and it is about a 5 hour drive-but she would (the Dr.) come in any time this weekend to unfill me. So.....

If this warm liquid goes through, and I can take it in---I will try to hang in there, and see my Dr. If not we will leave for AZ at the time we decided it isn't working, and she said no problem, it sounded like the ideal way to handle it.

The Fill Center coordinator was going to write up a report on the unwillingness of the Albq. office to work with us---she said that is not the face they want to present. For now, I am ok-----just waiting, to see how things go. I feel pretty good.....kinda weak. Going to check my BP & pulse again here in a little while, that will give me a clue whether the dehydration is easing. Earlier my BP was only 78/52!!! But my pulse was 124! Not too good the doc said!

Tracy, when this gets handled---and it is not so chaotic, I plan on calling you and talking for real! You should have your box by then. And Rick said you don't have to pay anything for shipping, if I will mail it out of our house he is willing to pay------anything to clear some stuff out!!! I don't see him getting rid of any motorcycles or motorcycle junk though....smart alec that he is!

But I Hope some of it works for you. I got the box ready, he took it to the PO---I have no idea ---he said he sent it with confirmation---but he had no idea what he did with the slip, he said it must be in the truck! men.........

OK----gonna go reheat my heating pad--------another suggestion--heat on the band site----he said this is quite common with sinus problems, allergy sufferers are being warned of this now with banding.....

BBL~~~ thanks so much---I love you girls!

Kat

Uhm.. just something funny.

What I got you guys for the V trip, I ordered 2 different kinds of something similar. One of them ends up bein a LOT fancier than the other (didn't think it was suppose to be). So I went to their website to figure out what I got and why it was so fancier.. looks like they had an 'oops' on their website, and the item they gave me was suppose to be 6x more expensive (it now is)... I guess it'll make more sense when you guys see what I'm talking about.. I was going to go order everyone else the same thing so everyone's looks the same.. but the new price is outrageous, so.. the thought was there!!

Kat, keeping my fingers crossed that the warm tea does the trick. What an awful thing to have to be going thru.

I haven't had any issues like this or even close to it. This is one reason why at my last appointment we decided not give me a fill. I had lost 10.5 pounds since 6 weeks before and I told him I was feeling comfortable. I have never had any issue with PB'ing or throwing up and I'm not wanting to start.

Hang in there and keeping you in my thoughts.

Four days post surgery. I am sipping as fast as I can and getting NO WHERE near the goal of 60 - 80 grams of protein or the 64 oz of liquids. I just feel FULL. I don't know if it can still be the gas build up (I would think by now that would be gone) but it is a struggle to drink. And so far I have not had the nausea or spasms and don't want to wander into that territory by pushing too hard with liquids. I about passed out today as it was my most "strenuous" day. Went from second story to basement for shower and I was sure I was going to pass out. Looking back on my last few days I have had a total of less than 1000 calories. Am I just not getting enough nourishment in me? Once again a friday where I can't get ahold of the doc until Monday rolls back around so I am hoping maybe someone here has some experience on how to keep energy going. I do have fibromyalgia too and that may be where some added fatigue comes into play. How did you all fair with the goals the week after surgery?

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I'm in Houston so kind of near you and had the sleeve in Dec. Down 61 lbs. Feeling better. Was definitely worth it. I hope the everything is going well for you. Update us when you can!

I am back home after my bypass surgery in Tiajuana. I'm post op day 4. Everything went great! I guess I'm one of the lucky ones who have not encountered much pain at all, no nausea thus far and I'm having no problem keeping down broths and water. Thank you for your well wishes. I cant wait to keep up this journey and have a chance at better health and simply better quality of life. I know there will be bumps in the road ahead, and everything won't be peaches and cream, but at least I have a great start so far. 😍

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

      2. Doughgurl

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜
