Shrinkin' Violets- Part 2 Read Here

Recommended Posts

I see you added your contest stats to your siggy, Terry... who is keeping the info/calculating the percentages, etc?? Are we weighing in weekly or just at the end?? When is the end? May 1? I obviously didn't read the fine print before I agreed to this! LOL! :) (love this "willy nilly" guy... it's so me!)

I love Mr. Willy Nilly, too! But this is the guy who I most identify with--> :tt2:

I dunno...I think we're just all gonna report on May 1st, I guess. I've got all the starting weights, but they're at the office. I'll give them to Laura....she's our statistician!

Just a quick update.

FIRST.. did everyone post their info? I'm going to compile it for our contest tomorrow when I get to work!!

I called the doc after hours since no one ever called back. I had the hospital page him. He FINALLY called back. He said the CAT scan showed 3 things... 1. My left kidney is in my pelvis (I KNEW THAT) 2. My colon has a thick lining, indicative of food poisoning or something.. said it's gasteoentitis or blah blah 3. I don't have a bladder infection

So he said he's not going to Rx anything, told me to take a laxative or magnesium citrate, and if I still hurt in 2 days to come see him in his office.

So that's that. I got some laxative stuff from Walgreens tonight, going to take that and hopefully be good! I got 2 more pain pills from my bro, so if I need them tomorrow they're there. Wish me luck.. me and toilet going to go get all cozy like.

---

Woops, just saw your post Terry. I was going to compile it tomorrow but if you have it already WOOHOO, just e-mail it and I'll get it set up. Ready, set, GO V's!!

Oh and watch out, I realized, after how much I ate at dinner (1.5 SLICES of french bread.. 1 BITE is normally a doozy ack) I am most definitely in need of a fill. So going to call & schedule that tomorrow.

I will fill out the info tomorrow Terry---I will have to look it back up. I just got up to shower, and am going back to bed. My NYquil problem has hurt me, I am down to sips of liquid only--nothing else stays down. Add that to the cold or whatever I have and it has been a crappy day, spent most of it in bed.

Will check in tomorrow.

Night

Hi all, I have not been keeping up with this board for quite a while, have been sooo busy! I went last week to the BC and had all of the fill taken out. I was soooooooo sick and tired of the pain with every bite, and the throwing up! I could not even get down yogurt. So, I had it emptied for a few months to give it all a rest! The BC sent me in for an upper GI which I had done this week, dont know the results yet.

Have any of yous had this problem? It seems they cannot find the right "fill" for me, a small amount is just too much, and none is not enouf! At this point, I am so tired of it, dont know if I will ever get another fill, it seems like I am doing quite well like it is now. I still have some restriction, but now without the pain. I have been stuck on losing and gaining the same 8 pounds for months.

No words can describe how great I felt when all of the "fill" was taken out!!!! It was relaxing for the first time in a long time! I was so upset that I even had the band put in, now I feel better.

The band has never been what I thought it would be. I thought that you could eat most things only a small amount and you would be full, and stop eating. That is NEVER how it has been. Most of the year I ate very little food, and most of it always got stuck!

Any opinions would be helpful. Thanks.

Good morning violets-

Haydee-yes Dr L takes insurance but my consult was with a local PS and he is the one that does not take insurance. I am waiting for Dr L office to call me back to schedule a consult with him. I also am looking at Dr Cassco here locally in the Nassau Bay area. He takes insurance too.

The fill I got is gonna be history today....I can not even drink water! I PBd on sugar free ice cream for goodness sake! I am calling the dr office today. I just do not consider PBing on liquid normal. I can not even ake my Chantix pill and that thing is TINY! Alot probably has to do with sinus drainage (TMI I know). I would just rather keep the amount of fill I had before and get back on the willpower wagon.

Pam & Jane-loved BB last night. Chelsia made herself look like a demented little brat...I hope James is next.

Laura-I am glad you are o your way to recovery.

Kat-feel better soon!

I better get up and head for work...my boss is just gonna love me asking him to leave again! What am I supposed to do, tube feed? lol

Good Thurs Morn, Vi's~~

I did it! Made it thru yesterday the Bandster way! Boy did it feel good! & I hope it makes today easier, too!!

TracyK... wow, what a difference a little saline can make, huh? Hope you get relief today!

Hi Margie... Sorry to read of your difficulties w/the band... I have no advice for you as I have not experienced any of those problems... happily, my reality is that I can (& do!) eat anything, just small amounts... I hope you & your band can come to terms w/each other!

Gotta take dd to school... we missed the bus... AGAIN! She & I are just not morning gals...

Make it a great day, everyone!

Good Morning girlies

I posted my start at 208 but i was really a little more than that but I ate something strange. so this morning i'm back to 209 so i'm still keeping my start at 208. Amazing how 1 thing can bloat me that much.

Yesterday, I noticed a swollen area at my knuckles on 1 hand, very strange and i have bumps going up my spine. I am afraid I have my moms issues with sugar and wheat. They just came out of no where. That and all the fat pockets I find I am making myself crazy

I had the strangest dreams ever last night, I need good sleep and I have not been getting it. Next week i'm going to have to be to work at 5:30. YUCK

Good Morning Girls.

Just woke up and need to get my day going. Feeling better so I must be over the little flu bug I had. Glad about that. Wednesdays are my busy day day with working in the morning and than going into work at the hospital in the evening.

You know those commercials where they show the credit card calling someone because there was an unusual charge made on their card? Last night after we got home from our shift there was a message from our credit card company wanting us to call them immediatly. I gave them a call and lo and behold someone tried to use our card number for a $10,000 charge. They wanted to know if we were actually the ones that were doing this. I told her not in a million years. She said it didn't go thru, that it was just an attempt. They have canceled our card and are going to reissue a new one. Scary. About 5 years ago someone got into our checking account and was using it to order porn. That was a hassle. They had to close all of our accounts at the bank and reissue everything. Had to wait for new checks and check cards.

Hubby nad I are off to go shopping. Still attempting to find some new tenny's. Maybe I can get him to take me to lunch also. Chili's, here I come.

Everyone have agreat day.

Welcome Margi. Glad to have you aboard.

GOOD MORNING!

I'm thinking that I may need a bit of a fill because last night we went out for chinese and I ate way way way too much........ (among them about 10 "butter shrimp") omg it was soooooooooo good.. I just kept eating...... I bounced all the way back up to 193 this morning but my rings will not hardly budge off my fingers so I know it is Water retention.......... I kind of like the fact that I can eat food.. but it is scarey that I have no control. I think I need to get a grip on my food and then rethink a fill..............

Suzie: that is so scarey about the credit card...

Tracy... that's how I am... I CAN eat so I DO eat... and it is scary that I still haven't learned any better or can't control it better after almost a year now... I obviously still NEED my band!!

A boring day sitting at the desk working... bleh. For "fun" later I'm going to do the elliptical and then go to the bank & dry cleaners. Woo hoo... I know... you're envious of my oh-so-glamourous life!

Tracy, I think we just need to stop eating good food. I find that when the food is really good I want to over-stuff myself. :crying:

Maybe we should just stick with....uh...canned turkey chili.

Suzie- Just something to be careful about, sometimes the people calling you about the 10k charge, are the scammers!! They say "Something going on with your CC, call us at XXXX".. then they ask your CC info and you think it's the bank and blah blah, they get your CC info. Make sure if you ever get a message to call them back, you look up their actual number and it is the same. Also, I've had them get me on the phone and ask CC info, and I told them I would call them back (to confirm it was them). Just something to be careful about, lot of horrible people out there.

Well I didn't think the laxative through. I took it around 10pm last night, fell asleep at 11pm with no activity. DH went into work early so I got up with him around 6am, and I had ONE small bowel movement.. lots of cramping. Went back to sleep, got up at 8:30 and had ONE small bowel movement, little cramping.. and had to come into work. I wore a dress for 'easy access' to the toilet.. boo. We have a sales meeting today, otherwise I'd have stayed home

Got the info Terry! I'll get it all plugged in.

My starting weight is 233.8lb (hrmph).

Four days post surgery. I am sipping as fast as I can and getting NO WHERE near the goal of 60 - 80 grams of protein or the 64 oz of liquids. I just feel FULL. I don't know if it can still be the gas build up (I would think by now that would be gone) but it is a struggle to drink. And so far I have not had the nausea or spasms and don't want to wander into that territory by pushing too hard with liquids. I about passed out today as it was my most "strenuous" day. Went from second story to basement for shower and I was sure I was going to pass out. Looking back on my last few days I have had a total of less than 1000 calories. Am I just not getting enough nourishment in me? Once again a friday where I can't get ahold of the doc until Monday rolls back around so I am hoping maybe someone here has some experience on how to keep energy going. I do have fibromyalgia too and that may be where some added fatigue comes into play. How did you all fair with the goals the week after surgery?

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I'm in Houston so kind of near you and had the sleeve in Dec. Down 61 lbs. Feeling better. Was definitely worth it. I hope the everything is going well for you. Update us when you can!

I am back home after my bypass surgery in Tiajuana. I'm post op day 4. Everything went great! I guess I'm one of the lucky ones who have not encountered much pain at all, no nausea thus far and I'm having no problem keeping down broths and water. Thank you for your well wishes. I cant wait to keep up this journey and have a chance at better health and simply better quality of life. I know there will be bumps in the road ahead, and everything won't be peaches and cream, but at least I have a great start so far. 😍

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

      2. Doughgurl

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!
