Hi Everyone

Just a quick question and I'm sure the answer varies but I was wondering once all of the information is presented to the insurance company does it take to get approval? I have one more weigh in and then I will have completed everything and the insurance company will get all of my paperwork for approval (hopefully). The issue that worries me is that I would like to have my surgery before the end of the year - is that out of the question?

I am so excited about reading all of the success everyone is having and I am just anxious to move this process along as I am sure everyone is. I have a preop seminar to attend next week and at that time I guess I will learn what I need to do prior to surgery.

Thanks for all of the encouragement it certainly has helped to make this life changing decision.

I went for my first appt. with Lap Band Dr. on May 7, 2008 to talk about getting the band. They wrote to my Ins. company for approval. I got my approval on May 14th. Since then I have had 3 appts. with a psycologist to see if I'm able to handle the life change. Then I had Appt. with a nutrionist. Once the Dr. recieved their report they scheduled my sugery for Aug. 4th.

I was told my insurance company had up to 30 days to respond once the bariatric surgery group approved and sent it in. I heard back within a week. But it took another month to before my surgery date because of busy schedule.

At the time it seemed like forever. Now, I can't believe it's been almost 3 months!

Congratualations Janet on your NSV. I hope you get a little R & R now. What sort of books do you like to read?

Thanks Ingyrob !!

I read all kinds of books - I like Patterson - Kellerman - Tami Hogg - Dean Koontz (mysteries) - and Jackie Collins - Nora Roberts - Sandra Brown (Mysteries & with a little romance) - Mary Alice Monroe - Dorothea Benton Frank - Mary Kay Andrews - Fannie Flagg (southern books have the humor of the south - civil war stuff - I think I was Scalett O'hara in another life)

So I am all over the place with my reading it depends on my mood - I was reading 1 book a week - but this last year I haven't been reading as much (going to the gym & being here lbt i guess) but I just read 2 book this last few weeks - Alex Delaware/Patterson - Married Lovers/Jackie Collins (loved the Lucky Santiago series)

I am a total pleasure reader - nothing too heavy - I did all my learning in school :lol::thumbup:

Yes, 3 appts. with shrink. First visit she just talked to me about past diets I have tried. 2nd visit she gave me a test to find out what kind of person I am. Last visit she went over the test with me.

The nutritionist talked to me about the different Protein Drinks, Vitamins to take. How much etc. Explained the lap band some and how it works. How much allowed to eat during a meal ( size of a deck of cards ) lol

can't wait...ready to get started.

Hey, I've lost 93 pounds...but it's not in 3 months...that includes my 3 month pre-op diet....so, really, since the beginning of December --- but I'm still really excited about it, however it came off! Today was a hard day...sure I didn't loose anything today with all the parties and holiday food! But, tomorrow is another day!

How do I send a private message to someone?

Couple of ways - On the right side of your screen look for send message - click on that - then type the name of who you want to p.m. say it's me when you type in Indio - my name indiogirl55 will pop up - click it and then type subject and memo - another way is to click on my name above my avtar (pic) and a drop down menu appears - one of them say - send private message.

HI Folks,

What an awesome 4th of July I had today. Spent all day just relaxing with my dog but went to the fireworks with the grandkids and family. What a difference the lap band has made in my life. I am 88 pounds lighter since my surgery and smoke free. I could actually get on a blanket with my granddaughter and get back up:lol: without assistance. Now the knees and joints are another thing . I do not exercise and yes, I know I should, but I have severe bicep tendonitis in my left arm and not sure what will be the outcome of it. I have very small wrists and arms. Not sure if I have bone issues or not I consult with 12 Subways, so my work load is heavy. I just pray the tendonitis will heal soon. It is affecting my sense of well being and delaying my decision to hire a personal trainer to get me on the right track of exercise and building muscles.

Have a great weekend folks!!!

Hey Indio, I too am a fan of Patterson, Faye Kellerman and I LOVE Robert Parker. I even e mailed Faye Kellerman to tell her how much I enjoy her books AND SHE RESPONDED. I also am reading for pleasure these days. I've done enough "pondering" when I was a younger gal.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
