Christie,

Sades is starting tomorrow, so you could start tommorow with her if you would like. It's never too late. Just jump in and go!!

Way to go Jocelin. These shakes really make you appreciate non sugar real food don't they. BTW, I am in Texas too. East Texas. I live about 2 hours east of Arlington. I am a HUGE Cowboys fan. I even had a Roger Staubach poster on my wall when I was a little girl.

I just finished my 2nd shake of the day. I was surprised that the first one lasted so long. I promised myself that I would only drink one when I was hungry. This has really made me examine the whole head hunger thing. I even exercised, YEA ME!!!!

I was drinking my 1st shake and my state worker came to see our foster child, so I sat it down. I have not had anything since. Since I woke up I have had about 1/2 of a shake and about 8 oz of Water. I am not hungry at all. I too and going to have to examine this head hunger thing. It seems that being hungry may not really be my problem.

Exactly. I think I was so used to feeling stuffed (pre-band), and that's what I was expecting- that stuffed full feeling that I was so used to. When I stop and really think about it, I know I've been dealing with head hunger and not actual physical hunger. This has really been an eye opener for me.

This has been very eye opening for me too. I was trying to fix the symptom (eating the wrong thing) instead of fixing the true problem (head hunger). I know what you are saying about that stuffed full feeling. I have been trying to get that with the band. That is no longer the goal, and remember how miserable stuffed feels anyway. I think we may have jsut learned a very important lesson in this whole thing. It is about so much more than food.< /p>

OMG!!! I have been having trouble getting to the gym because of the babies and childcare. Well, I refuse for that to be an excuse so we started going to the track in the evenings when my dh gets home. Well, it got really cold and then rainy. I needed an excuse proof exercise plan so last night I bought the cardio and the body sculpting dvd's from The Biggest Loser. It says to alternate cardio and body sculpting each day. Well, I just got through with my first day of cardio and it kicked my butt!!! I typically don't like videos, but it seems to be the best option right now. I hope to get an eliptical soon and then add it as well. But for now, the videos will have to do. I am still catching my breath!!

So, how's it going everyone?? Sorry--I am already done with my little "experiment" so I figured I'd show some support and see how you're doing with it.

I know it seems silly, but this really helped me. I got myself hydrated again and regained a respect for food again. I had gotten myself so off track over the holidays that I just wanted to "stop" and refocus on myself. So, hopefully you'll find it works for you too. Just promise you'll go back to eating real foods (healthy foods) again when you're finished...I'm not trying to endorse us living off of liquid diets because that's not a healthy lifestyle.

PS--Peeing much?? HA HA!

Peeing much.....lol. That's exactly what I've been doing ALL DAY LONG. I sure hope I can sleep tonight. Funny

This really is a good jump start back to healthy.

Thanks for the suggestion Lapbandit, and everyone participating.

I can do this one more day, but I want to have my office moved closer to a bathroom.

Well, mylife changed tonight. We just got 2 foster kids tonight. A girl who is 6 and a boy who is 3. Yep, that makes 5 kids at my house and they are 2 months, 13 months, 3, 6 and 9. It is crazy around here tonight. Needless to say I haven't thought much about food tonight. I have only had 1 1/2 shakes today and about 24 oz of Water. That is not near enough water. I will drink somemore before I go to bed. It is amazing though, I am not hungry. Maybe I didn't need a lap band just 5 kids. LOL Without my band I'm sure I would be eating like crazy.

I bought some sugar free syrups. It's the kind they make the

fancy coffees with . I bought caramel and raspberry. It really

adds some nice flavor to the chocolate Protein Shakes. I get tired of the same old thing and these have really helped.

I bought my Protein shakes today so I can start in the morning (Australian morning, your night), so I plan to do it Wednesday & Thursday. I too have noticed that most of my over eating has been head hunger because since I've been back at work I am eating much less and also noticing a little more restriction... go figure. I still want to do the shakes because during my little stint, I put on a little weight so I want to get that off el pronto. Good luck to everyone already on it... just goes to show that if we really listen to our bodies, we are not really hungry.

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
