What would you do or have you done since surgery..

  • Popular Post

Hello all!

After seeing all the responses on the post topic " What do you wish you should of done before surgery" it got me wondering what Do You Have Planned or What have you done since having had your surgery that you used to reward yourself, or thought you'd never be able to do prior to surgery that either you can now or have added to your will do list that you thought "if only"....?

I'm curious about what we've put off doing beforehand or what you couldn't do before losing the weight and have added it to your " bucket list". Life is short and I want to read how you're going to enjoy it now! I'm looking for inspiration. I look forward to living vicariously through you!

I'll start:

* I used to train and show hunt seat and dressage, I just started back up!

* I used to sail and scuba. Next year I will be adding it to my plans.

* I purchased a professional bow and I'm having a friend who's been scouted for the Olympics teach me!

* I've added ballroom dance to my list.

* I'm back to my daily yoga.

* I've got some vacations on the schedule to Hawaii and Spain to visit some old friends!

Its just a start, so many amazing things to do now.

Pre surgery I didn't dream further than doing simple things that a fitter person could do. It was all I could do to keep our home clean and cook our meals. Thankfully we have shopping deliveries or

That sounds like an exciting change of pace. You can get annual passes for some of those theme parks you’re excited to visit.

That's the plan!! I was born and raised in Florida. Lived there from 78-2004. Only been back to visit maybe 6 or 7 times in 20 years. I miss everybody there, I miss the weather, I miss being in the south. And to go back with a successful career and looking much like I did in high school again, well, that's always a bonus, too lol

I've often thought of moving there, or the South East coast, but the house insurance rates in Florida have made me think twice and three times about it. I've seen insurance rates as high or higher than the mortgage each month! Wowsa! I'd still love too..but dang I don't know how ppl do it.

I've owned a home twice. And sold twice. Not for me lol I prefer living in upscale apartments that include all the things I want and have maintenance onsite and located near everything I want lol

That's the way we're leaning since we're getting older and don't want the home maintenance... Which part you looking at to move? We usually vacation in Sanibel, Destin, Marco Island or the keys..I take it rental insurance is a bit better?

I have family and friends in North Miami Beach as well as the Tampa Bay area. We're looking at the Orlando suburbs like Kissimmee and Lake Buena Vista.

I just had my RYGB, so my list is a "what I'm going to do". But I've in love with a lot of these lists from you all!

* Have children and actually have the energy to run around and play with them
* Learn to sew and start making my own clothes
* Learn to dance
* Pilates
* Running and maybe even entering 5ks or marathons
* Go hiking without worrying if I will make it to the top of trail
* Get back into tae kwon do (I haven't done it since I was in my early 20s and 150lbs lighter)

All amazing goals that I'm sure you'll accomplish. Congratulations on starting down this road, so many possibilities! Btw..in regards to your #1...you will never have enough energy, healthy weight or not ?

I guess I have always done everything I have wanted because I was never overweight until 5 years ago. But the things I have noticed NOW (never noticed before WLS):

- I don't need to sit as often, I can stand for long periods and don't get the urge to find a seat.

- My feet don't hurt walking so much. I was traveling the past two weeks and we walked A LOT! Every time we traveled the past few years my feet would kill me, this time was a breeze.

Things I started:

- I took up Pilates. I have a bad foot (sports) injury that caused my weight gain so always had a fear of doing Pilates although I consistently worked out my whole life but was nervous to take up Pilates for some reason. Now my two Pilates classes are literally the highlight of my week.

- I look forward to weddings and gatherings where I avoided them like the plague and they used to cause me social anxiety and made me feel so down about my body.

- Changing my wardrobe LOL, I am shopping like nobody's business. I am buying stuff I never would've bought the past few years. Lingerie, crop tops, shorts, short dresses, workout gear. You name it!

- Weighing myself regularly. Was never a weigher even at my fittest and slimmest, and that's probably was what caused all the weight gain because I refused to face reality.

Things I see myself doing in the future:

- Probably getting some lip filler LOL.

- Having my third child (maybe? I put it off because I was overweight and I couldn't fathom gaining more weight)

- Getting my foot surgery (although it feels much better so I will need to reassess).

Isn't it amazing all the things we've all put off until after surgery! I wish you luck and hope you do these things on your "future" list!
