I'm being banded 12/27!!! Can't believe it!!

Recommended Posts

Hi All,

I've read this site for awhile, but have never posted anything. I get the band 2 days after Christmas and I just want to know how bad your pain was after surgery ( I know everyone is different) the part that scares me the most is the actual procedure, even though I will be asleep! I just keep thinking about all of you who have made it through, and that helps me!

CJ:confused::eek:

CJ, the surgery was a breeze for me. The only discomfort I had was at the port site and some slight nauseau. You can get a perscription for the nauseau if you ask your doctor ahead of time. Good luck to you and welcome to bandland.

My very best wishes to you, CJ, for a speedy recovery! Your healing starts the very first day and from then on it just gets easier! ;)

When I had my first child, I panicked right before I was due and then realized all the thousands of women who'd gone before me--and I just thought "If THEY can do it, so can I!!!!"

Likewise with banding--inserting the tool is part of the process to a healthier life with a ton more quality that we had before! Welcome!

I was banded on the night of the 21st and the 1st hour out of surgery I was like "this really hurts, was I crazy to do this" but after the first hour and some pain meds later I was much better. Today I am home after spending one night in the hospital and I am experiencing very little pain and I love my xmas present.

Best Wishes to you! You'll do fine - just mind the rules and it'll be smooth sailing. I had surgery at 8 a.m. came home around 2 p.m. (1.5 hr. drive home - stopped half way home to walk around). I walked 3-4 times that afternoon and evening and the next several days. They say keep walking - it helps with the healing process and keeps you from getting sore. I got along pretty good. Again - best of luck to you. Today is my first postings here but I find it is helpful to see how others are doing and I wanted to offer my support.

Hi,

I had surgery on 12/19/07. The day of surgery was ok, the following day was very hard, not actual pain but alot of discomfort, soreness and a hard time getting up and down and sleeping. At this point I was second guessing my decision and thinking what did i get myself into. Dont freak out... the following day I was MUCH MUCH better. Today its 4 days and I feel great. Good Luck with your surgery, God Bless

I had mine 11/1...It wasn't that bad at all. I took tylenol with codeine for 2 days, then I stopped, didn't need it. Port site was never sore like everyone else. Just a little weak for a couple days, but that passed when I got some calories. I had shoulder pain for a couple hours, that passed too. No gas pains at all after that. I was very lucky.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
