So exciting!! Congrats brandycsiz!!

I was scheduled for December but we had to change things due to a shoulder surgery. So I'll be having the duodenal switch done on November 1st! I started the pre-surgery diet today since the surgeon wanted me to do 3 weeks if possible...

New guy here. Got my date set for November 20 for a Gastric Sleeve procedure. Kind of nervous, but more excited than anything. How's everyone else feeling for theirs?

I'm feeling good! A little nervous but that's to be expected. I've finished one week of my pre-op diet, two weeks to go!! I will say though, if you are prone at all to leg cramps and have to do a pre-op diet, make sure you have an electrolyte mix on hand. I got wicked charlie horse cramps in both legs about 48 hours into my diet. Thankfully I had anticipated this and had an electrolyte powder that's low carb on hand and as long as I drink some every night the potassium and magnesium in it have held the cramps at bay!

Hi all. Surgery dates are backed up so I was expecting next year at some point and got offered 11/13 for a sleeve a few weeks ago. I had to do 6-months of meetings with PAs and nutritionists for my insurance so it has been some time in coming. I started a month-long pre-op diet on Monday and have been OK but a little shaky. I'm on Ozempic which has occasionally made me vomit in the morning when moving to a new dose but now I've done it every morning since starting this diet. Hoping that gets under control soon.

Ozempic is so mean sometimes... Be sure you are getting electrolytes in, sometimes when they get off kilter it creates nausea and vomiting. And these pre-op diets can be pretty brutal to our electrolyte levels. Congrats on your surgery date!!

The last few days have been vomiting free so yay. The Constipation however is real. I messaged my nutritionist and she just said to drink more Water.

My doctor said Miralax and Milk of Magnesia are your friends pre-surgery and post surgery. The way they advised to take it is to take milk of magnesia to deal with things if they are already blocked up, then miralax daily to keep things moving. A lot of our post surgery members here have a capful of miralax every morning or evening, it is safe for longer term use since it is stimulant free. (Milk of magnesia is a stimulant.)

I'm guessing post surgery once you are out of the stages you could try a Fiber supplement too. My GI doctor is a huge fan of them... LOL

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
