Question? Was yours performed outpatient or did you stay overnight?

For me, I was scheduled to spend the night in the hospital but when my doc met with me that morning before the 7:30AM surgery, he said that if I went to the bathroom, kept down some fluids, and was walking around, he would discharge me that afternoon. For the first couple hours after surgery I did not think that would happen because I felt so out of it. But by the afternoon I was like "Let's do this!" and was discharged around 4PM. I felt SO much better at home. Good luck!

I also had my sleeve operation on 10/23. I’m trying to make sure I get enough liquids and Protein in. The first two days were pretty difficult, but it’s gotten easier as healing takes it’s course.

Congratulations!!

I'm scheduled for my sleeve 10/30.

I actually enjoyed the overnight stay. I was so groggy from the anesthesia, it was hard to stay awake for extended periods of time. I did get up and walk a few times throughout the night. One of the best things was that there was only one other patient on the unit, so it was really peaceful.

Hi everyone. I know there's another theead like this under the Gastric Sleeve part of the forum, but I thought I'd start a thread here to be more inclusive to people who are having a variety of surgeries.

I'm scheduled to have my VSG on October 2nd. I'm looking forward to a new start. I'm 5'5" and 235 pounds. I have lost 25 pounds so far. My pre-op diet starts on September 11th. It's Protein Drinks plus up to 7 ounces of Protein only foods. Not looking forward to that. Back in 2010 I had a lap band. I lost 122 pounds and kept about 65 pounds off. I had to have it removed last year because it slipped, but I had already decided to have a revision to the sleeve.

Anyone else scheduled for October surgeries?

Yes my surgery was October 2nd It is going ok. I am 68 and 4ft 8in I was 203 at surgery date now 188 I feel like I am not losing much. How about you?

Hi there. It sounds like you're doing well. As for me, I'm 60, 5 feet 5 inches tall and weighed 223 at time of surgery. I have only lost 12 pounds so far and am at the dreaded 3 week stall. I just have to be more patient.

There's a "dreaded 3 week stall?" This is the first I've heard of that! I'll be 3 weeks on Monday!

I believe it’s true. I had lost 23 lbs on my 14 day post-op follow up. And I’ve lost nothing in the three days since.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
