I had my gastric bypass on July 6. Doing good getting my Protein in with the Clear Liquids but I'm struggling getting in my fluids.

Hi Lindsey. My surgery was the same day. I am have trouble getting the some fluids in as well, however, I have only felt dehydrated once. My surgery team said that some other things I ingest count towards my Fluid intake, like Protein Shake and broth but I try focus on getting 64 oz of water- flavored and unflavored. It seems like a lot to take in many days. All the best!

I was scheduled 7/11 but cancelled due to what ended up being strep throat and, well, a nice panic attack the night before. My energy had been extremely low on the pre op diet and I got all depressed, got afraid it wasn’t going anywhere good with the post op diet. For those that had the surgery, did you struggle with fatigue/energy before or after? Do you feel nourished and hydrated enough in the post op period?

I feel you on anxiety part! Mine is up coming the 24th. Monday I start my Pre-Op liquid diet.< /p>

Hello! My surgery date is 7/31 and I’ve been getting prepared for surgery.

My question is regarding the all liquid post op diet. My doctor has me on a clear liquid diet for the day after surgery and then I can switch to all liquids (like shakes) and I should stay on this all liquid diet for 2 weeks before starting on “Soft Foods”

I over bought my drinks for these two weeks.

My question is: Can I stay on the all liquid diet for another week or two before moving to soft foods? Is there any potential down side to that?

Thanks!

I'm assuming I won't be able to eat a lot right away so I'll be drinking shakes into my soft food phase (the 25th) and beyond for awhile. Especially when I go back to work. I don't want to try a soft food only to end up in the bathroom because my body didn't like it. I have a coworker who is a couple years post op and keeps shakes at work just to make sure she's getting her Protein.

That's my plan, anyway. 🙂

I was that way preop! I got a variety pack of Premier on Amazon and Fairlife 26g Protein in chocolate and that made a huge difference! Changing up flavors helped!

This will be short as I am physically and mentally exhausted.

My sleeve op was a success HOWEVER I am still in hospital and not expected to be released until Friday (19 days vs 2 days) as I suffered severe pancreatis. My blood work is starting to show improvement but I'm signed off work until end of August and it could take up to six months to recover.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
