I’m like - I can not beleive I did this—- why did I do this to still be hungry!

I totally understand, my surgery was on the 13th of June and I too could not understand why I was so hungry. I'm more hungrierthan I have ever been in my life, but it will eventually go away as you are able to eat food, I still growl, I just wanna feel normal again.

I’m new to posting, but I’ve been lurking for a while. I had my sleeve surgery on the 26th. Surgeon said it was a simple procedure with no complications. Liver looked good, no hernia needing repair. I had horrible luck with my IVs (both were infiltrated), my anxiety and BP were pretty high and I ended up with bad muscle spasms in my back and neck, but I’m a week out and feeling mostly normal. I’ve lost 12lbs and I seem to be tolerating everything okay (knock on wood).

I was hoping everybody was ok. Haven’t heard from anybody in awhile. I’m now eating salmon, grilled nuggets from Chick-fil-A and shaved turkey. I was kind of fatigued for a few days but I upped my liquid intake and really started taking those 4 Vitamins and it’s made a difference. Hope everybody is still hanging in there. We got this y’all, we did this as I’m assuming last resort now let’s make sure we make it count. Keep it up everybody. I’m sure it will get easier and easier just hang in there.

Yeah today was the first time I literally woke up without having a headache it was scaring me I ended up at the emergency room again because my head just wouldn't stop hurting so today was the first time I just upped my food a little bit more in trying to put in a little bit more liquid and today was the first time I woke up without a headache.

@Carla Ogwin that’s good to hear. I was getting alittle nervous myself. But we’re learning I just wish the learning phase would hurry up lol.

I had my first post-op appointment yesterday. My surgeon told me to just keep following the stages on the handout and scheduled my next appointment for three weeks from now.

He told me to go ahead and start eating eggs and other foods that I could smash with a fork (that was kinda broad, but I know what he meant, lol) when y'all make your eggs, do you add anything extra to them to make them softer? Usually when I make a scrambled egg, I'll use butter and heavy cream to get them fluffy, but I know that neither are a go right now.

Y'all don't know how appreciative I am to have this group to be able to interact with people that are going through the same things I am.

Thanks for your help!

Glad to see another Texan here that had the surgery around the same time that I did! I also lost around 12lbs after the surgery, I'm assuming that it's normal?

Glad everything went smooth for you.

I use whole milk cottage cheese in my eggs & shredded cheese. I cook it right with the eggs. I had VSG June 1st & I can still only eat about half an egg

(Before anyone comes at me for using WHOLE milk dairy, I've been okay'd to do so because my body tolerates it & I'd rather have real fat then fake forever chemicals in my body from the low flat crap, it's my health journey, feel free to do as you please with yours.)

I also like adding Avocado to my eggs & I eat cottage cheese & Avocado with salt & pepper every single day. It's my lunch & I love it. So yummy! You can also mix cottage cheese with canned fruit (no skins) I love Peaches. Very delicious 😋

I was soooo hungry 2 wk PO! I couldn't understand & was very disheartening.. I had buyers remorse, but it faded in a week or 2. I am 5 weeks PO now, down 32 lbs & have to force myself to eat & drink. My appetite is usually sleeping but wakes up around dinner I will get a hankering for a type of food, lately has been steamed veggies & chicken. Yuuum!

It will get easier, day by day, stay positive, stay thankful for this tool & make small goals that lead to the larger ones! Best of wishes

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
