How long did you have to wait from your first appointment to actual surgery? Nhs, This is uk at luton Bedfordshire hospital

Recommended Posts

Hi , so I have my first appointment in the next couple of weeks, exciting! I'm getting mine through the nhs as I have no ways of self funding, I can't get a loan as I wouldn't be accepted , anyway my question is has anyone had their op at luton and dunstable hospital? How long did you have to wait for surgery from your first appointment at the hospital? I'm hoping my surgery will be this year .

Thanks

Good luck with your appointment but I have to be blunt here, Its not going to be this year. The NHS is swamped with two and a half years of back cases of urgent surgery that will come before yours. Don't despair though, You will have your foot in the door and are a step closer than before

Thankyou for your reply , I will ask at my appointment how long the waiting list is , I wish I could afford to self pay :( I have really looked at options to self fund but unfortunately I just can't do it

I know it took me almost 10 years to save the money. 10 years I could have been slim ffs. My local doctors kept poopooing me off and wouldn't refer me, I just knew I had to pay. To me now its worth the money but I just could not have gone into debt to pay it back even a 0 percent

I had to wait 8 months for my surgery last year even though I paid. I was told 6 months in the beginning but Covid caught them out and it ended being 8. I cried when I found out but my turn came quicker than I thought.

You are a step further than I ever got so good luck with your appointment. Worth telling them you are available for any cancellations too.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
