surgery in 3 days-thursday the 20th

Recommended Posts

Oh Sara . . . take a deep breath! When you wake up, you'll be groggy and not feeling any pain at all . . . because you're still under the anesethetic from the surgery . . . I was one of the lucky ones and didn't have a lot of pain to deal with at all afterwards. However, I'm sure your doctor gave you perscriptions for pain for when you get home . . .make sure you have them filled before you have your surgery so they are ready for you . . .and then the montra is "walk, sip, walk, sip, repeat" . . . you will be fine! Best of luck to you!

Chris

When I woke up I was groggy and in pain. Sometimes it happens. For me, everything else has failed, my hope is this will work. There is no choice but to go forward and hope for the best.

Yep, when you leave the hospital they will give you a prescription for liquid pain meds. My advice would be to use 1/2 the normal dosage at first and then if you need more you can take the other 1/2.

You will find, Sara, that once the 20th comes, the time will fly on by and soon you'll be recuperating at home--then within a few weeks you'll be back to norm again and the memory of surgery fades easily.

My other advice is be careful with fruit juices at first--make sure you dilute them 50/50. I was a little nauseous at the hospital because of the straight juice I sipped--and then my paid meds did the same at home.

As was said, walk walk walk--even when you feel like you can't!! Best wishes to you! :)

Do not do it, find an alternative. It is painful and unless you are committed to dieting the rest of your life, it will not help you lose weight. It was the worse decision I ever made and if I only knew then what I know now, I would not subject my body to having a foreign body put in it and I am seriously considering having it removed. Worse decision I ever made.

Post op was groggy but minimal pain....after surgery was given 3 prescriptions, one for pain, one for previcid that I had to take for 30 days and I forget the 3rd.

I didn't have the pain prescription filled because 3 years before I had laporoscopic surgery for appendix and the prescription made me so groggy and out of it.

Post lap band I just used liquid tylenol for pain and didn't even fill the pain prescription....was much less groggy and was driving to the store 2 days post op...you cannot drive while on the pain prescriptions.

Good luck....no regrets on my part, and as with most, you will do great!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
