November 2022 Surgery Buddies

Anybody out there? I haven't scheduled yet, but it will certainly be in November. I'm still doing a little research, a bit nervous about traveling to Mexico by myself.

Can't wait to hear from others. Thanks and I will keep you posted.

Successful surgery. Gas pain isn’t as bad as I thought it was going to be. I think the toughest part is standing up to walk and feeling that stretch in your abdomen. But all in all doing very well. Up

Day 6 post-op and I am feeling fantastic. Liquids are going down quite easy. Up to about 7-8 ounces an hour, easily getting my 64oz min a day. Down about 10lbs so far. I think I have been one of the r

Yesterday was a little tough with the belly button pain, I realized talking, walking too fast and standing too long puts pressure there. Add that I have some coughing and feel like it will burst. Other than that the bigger incision sometimes feels sore and is getting easier to get on bed, still a little struggle to get off bc of the belly button incision. I managed 40oz of water, 4oz of shake and 2oz of broth. Hoping to do better or at least the same for today.

Hellooo, still not meeting the 64oz more like 40oz. Finally got my blood thinner injection so have been doing that for 2 days now. I have some discomfort in the area between the big incision and the belly button one, I think thats where some nerve blocker is still leftband itbia becoming alive. Otherwise pain is minimal, only take 1 tylenol a day mainly because of the belly button and the pressure coughing has put to it. I stopped doing the breathing exercise because of the coughing, I know thats the point but when i cough i feel like my insides will burst through there.

Had my 1 week post op appointment, everything went well. I have been doing good with my fluid almost at 55oz and I'm taking in about 40g of protein. Pain is small on that incision and only when I do certain movements. I'm cleared to start pureed on Monday.

I had gastric sleeve on November 2nd. Boy was I nervous! I saw my husband go through through gastric sleeve and he did great! I had a VERY hard week following surgery. But once I got past that week I have been moving forward. I am managing to get in my protein and water daily (sometimes it’s really hard). I started going for walks this week and I think the sunshine is helping. Everyday I’m feeling better! I haven’t had an issue with hair loss and am cautiously optimistic about that. How many calories is everyone averaging?

I’m 3 days post op and struggling I was doing so well until this afternoon and I tried to drink some protein shake. Now anything I have water, yogurt, broth about 10 minutes later I get a horrible throat pain and I start coughing and dry heaving. Has anyone experienced this

Sorry to hear about the dry heaving. I only had cough and it was mainly because of the incentive spirometer which is supposed to cause cough to clear out the lungs.

Are you also having nausea? Are you pacing yourself when drinking?

No nausea I’m totally fine until I dry to drink even a couple sips or eat and with in 15 min I start a reflux dry heaving

I'm wondering if it is any of the medications, have you reached out to your team? Most of my support group has mentioned it with nausea or if its too cold

Yes just got back it’s dry heaving …. So that’s fun . She wants me to focus on liquids for now and slowly introduce the protein again. Apparently it’s part of the process and said to call her if there is zero improvement

Hey guys! I had my sleeve on Nov 7th. I'm doing pretty good. Just wondering how many calories you all are eating? I'm getting around 400-500. I feel like that is high especially for such small amounts of food. I eat 3 (2oz) meals of pureed food, 2 premier protein shakes (160 calories per shake), and of course my water.

@BlessedMomma91.. that’s around the amount I have been getting. I had a bypass Nov 9th. I’m on soft foods going into regular diet in a week or so.

Hi around 400 is what our team said, after a few months around 600-700

Hi guys, I had surgery on the 14th of this month and I feel really good. And I haven't had any problems since I left the hospital and am able to keep foods down and get my water goal daily. I feel really blessed, but I feel that the scale is moving slow. My doctor says its normal and not to weigh myself every day. Anyone else feel like the scale is moving slow?

My scale at home is broken. For 3 weeks it told me I wasnt losing much at all. At my followup i was weighed and was 7 lbs under what my scale says. Still seems slow but we all have our own normal
