Where Is The Connecticut Band Fam

CTMAN:

Good luck with your approval! I had to do a 6 mth weight loss program before the office would submit my paperwork to Healthnet. I seriously thought about going to your group but decided against it because I would have to pay out of network. I hear such wonderful things about them. I started my 1000 pre-op diet yesterday. I can't believe this is happening. Feb. 11 will be here before I know it!

Good for you! You'll be a bander before you know it.

I wish our ins had paid for mine, but I don't regret paying to get it done.

I had another fill today. My fourth! On full liquids for two days and then soft for two days and then I'll try it out and see if this fill did anything. I really think it's going to take another fill before i get where I need to for it to last a while.

I am still tracking my calories and Protein and have found this to be very helpful during this time of little restriction and although the weight loss is slow, the scale continues to go down.

Once you have the surgery, I hope you'll join the group on the forum for the month of your surgery. (I know you're scheduled for March). I go on the November 2007 forum all the time and we share info about our fills, appts, hunger, food etc. It's great because while our weight loss varies, we are all basically at the same point post-op and we encourage each other, if we're going through a tough time.

Right now, our group is doing a Jan. to Valentines day Challenge. We each set a weight loss goal for the six weeks and each week we post our progress.

The threads for those ahead of you can be helpful too, so you know what might be coming you're way.

Congratulations on your approval. Let us know when you start the pre-op diet.

CT MAN, Don't want you to leave the CT family of banders for good for the March 08 crowd!!! We need both groups for our support.

Oh yes, post the photos! I wish I had taken before photos.

Don't forget, front view, side view and rear view. Some times the biggest change from one photo to the next is not visible in just one frontal photo. Lots of people wear the same clothes, like shorts and tee shirts.

Have you checked out the before and after photos on the forum?

Isn't it amazing to see the difference?

Did you know that at Dr. Ehrlich's office, Kevin, Becky and at least one other girl whose name I dont know yet, have all been banded?

I never saw them before banding, but it would be hard to guess they had the surgery from looking at them. I know Kevin had lost over 85 pounds in a relatively short time.

I think it's wonderful for the patients and Becky has given me some good advice on a few things....she's been there!

Tina, What are you eating? I know it's only a 1000 calories.

Since I'm on full liquids for two days, I had butternut squash Soup for dinner, tonight. Not much Protein in it, but I feel good about getting veggies in and it's got a pureed texture. I'm getting my Protein from the Isopure clear and I had an Atkins shake for lunch.

I forget who makes it, it's in a box and I just heat it up in micro, it's got some carrots and potatoes in it, to makes it a little thicker.

If you like it, that's a good choice for when you're on full liquids after surgery. When you're dinking so many cold Proteins shakes, something warm can be a nice change, especially in the winter.

Hey Shortgal,

I'm going to try and help all over so I'm not going anywhere.

Hey that's news. I did't know that all of them had it. That is great for the patients. I did check out the photos so I will try to get all angles. Hope I don't gross anyone out.

Sharona, Thanks for all of your support and well wishes!!!

My band sisters are the best!!!!

Thanks again,CTMAN

:thumbup:Hi GUys

I just got out the hospital with a terrible bronchial infection!! I was sooooo sick.

I got a call from Alba from Tischler's office while I was out so I'm hoping it is conected to my approval. I did call the insurance company while I was inpatient to check on the status they said it was still pending.

I'll find out tomorrow. Hope its good news. Would love to be a March bandster

Hello everyone

I found out today I was approved!!! That was very fast. My paperwork was submitted on January 31st and I was approved on February 7th. Because I was in the hospital it took a while to get back to them. I have my pre op appt on Thursday. What does that mean exactly??? I am assuming it means my physical and a date formy surgery. Hopefully it is soon. Its just the begginning. I have no time at work since I've been out two weeksnow with a bronchial infection. I should return to work this Friday. So I'm hoping there are no complications from surgery. Will try to schedule iton a Thursday so I don't have to take a lot of time off.

Everyone else doing well!!! This weather sucks...I'm so sick of winter....

sharon:)

A pre-op appt generally means a physical, Blood work, EKG and Chest x-ray to be sure you're healthly enough for surgery. Most hospitals require them to be done within 30 days prior to the surgery date.

Congratulations on your approval.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
