I’m three days away from surgery and I’m so nauseous from Protein Shakes and broth. I’ve been doing the liver shrinking diet since May 1st and I’m just over this. I don’t even want to drink anything but Water.< /p>

You are almost there, just a few more days!

After surgery you will likely need shakes for a bit to hit your Protein goals but there are tons of different brands and flavors to try. Maybe you will find one or 2 that you really like.

YOU GOT THIS!

There is also a brand called "bitten" that has an avocado lime dressing that is delicious! They have others too but that is the only one I tried so far. It is 50cals, also very good for sauce for homemade slaw to go on fish tacos. I use mahi mahi because I am not a huge fish person.

I only like mahi too. Funny thing is I used to have to make myself eat it once a week but post surgery I like it a lot more. Sorta makes me wonder if I should try other fish again.

Also, if you haven’t tried the unflavored Protein Powder you may do well with that post op since you don’t like the shakes. You can mix it in anything. Not Water though. It does have a taste - learned that the hard way.

ME TOO! Before surgery, I would kind of force myself to eat it but now there is no hesitation. I even eat leftovers for lunch. Before that would be trash.

Have you tried other fish? I wonder if they will taste less “fishy” or if I will like that “fishy” taste now.

I tried a bite of a friends Tilapia and didn't care for it still. It wasn't as "fishy" as I remember but the texture was too watery for me.

i just ordered some from Amazon! One of my friends who had surgery last year also recommended Organi, which is plant based so I ordered that to try. I've had so many of the Premier Protein shakes that they just arent sitting well anymore.

If it’s cause they are too sweet I would still try the caffe latte (at least if nothing else works out that you have already ordered). I have suggested it to many people on here and they liked it too.

I’m on work leave and I am bored too 🤣 today I moved into the mushy stage. My diet expanded to being able to have: fat free refried Beans, low fat ricotta or cottage cheese, and eggs 🍳 I had 2tbs of beans for Breakfast and it was way better than it should have been 🤣 I was so tired of yogurt. Days 3-6 my options were yogurt, hot Cereal. I hate hot cereal. So I ate yogurt and was over it. Moving on up!

I used to LOVE premier before surgery, now they are too thick for me and gross me out. I might try adding milk or something to thin them out and try that.

And added to the old Amazon cart. Thank you again for the suggestion!

I'm going to try this! The viscosity is just...eww. Like it reminds me of the slime I used to have my students make when I taught science class.

I am at work and bored. haha Spending my day messing around online. I am salary so I could leave, but the guy who works under me is out sick so if something important came up no one would be here to do it. So, as the dedicated awesome (time wasting) employee I am... here I sit.

I never cared for greek yogurt unless it is mixed in something for cooking. Honestly Danimals tubes were always my favorite. I w ould even freeze them for a snack. But now, too much sugar.. booo

I ate a lot of refried beans in my pureed stage. Also, egg salad.

They do have the 4 packs at Walmart too if you want to try them before you order a case.

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
