Heading into week two of pre-op clear liquids is killing me today. The idea of any broths makes me nauseated and jello has made me gag since the beginning. I’m trying to hold out for my surgery date Thursday and hoping I somehow miraculously become ok with clear liquids for one week post op diet!

Check-in is 9a tomorrow (June 21). Any surgery-twins out there? Pretty nervous, but even more excited.

Me! I check-in at 5am. Starting to get a little nervous but excited to get this thing going!

Awesome! I'm right there with you. Good luck to both of us!

Hi,

I had gastric bypass on Thursday, June 16th, 2022. Only a few days in and wondering what I was thinking.

If you've been around here a while, I'm sure you've seen plenty of people who feel the same way. Then two weeks later "I wish I'd done it sooner". Hopefully you follow the same path.

Did your surgeon give you anything for nausea? Thankfully mine did and it has been a life saver. I had to take it regularly the first week but I don't seem to have to take it as much this week (WK 2). I take it at the first sign on nausea and it has allowed me to eat some cream of mushroom soup strained which helped a lot in terms of energy. I just learned about sugar alcohols too and plan today to severely reduce my intake of them because apparently, they can cause gassy and bloaty gut, nausea and diarrhea! I had a horrible first week because of that so I'm hoping that reducing them will help reduce some of those symptoms!

Hey guys! Had my surgery yesterday, and about to get discharged. The gas pain is really something! Anyone else get sleeved on the 20th June?

That gas pain was the WORST part of the entire surgery process for me. It was worse than any pain I've experienced in my life but thankfully, my surgeon was available on my first full day home and suggested something that worked to start moving the gas around and within 24 hrs I was starting to feel better! I hadn't felt the gas move at all from the minute I got out of surgery, including no burping or flatulence to help get it out so his recommendation was a blessing!

Thank you. I have been doing really well. Yesterday was just a hard day and I found myself really struggling mentally. Physically it has been far easier than I ever imagined. My pain and discomfort has been minimal to nonexistent. I was able to eat some cottage cheese and that felt really good. I have zero appetite for food, other than my fantasy cravings. I have a new attitude today. I am very grateful and I am excited to see where I am the next couple of weeks. Hearing from others who have been there definitely helps.

I'm in for 25 June, the day before my birthday.

My surgery is July 7 and it’s only 3 days of liquid prior to surgery. 2 weeks liquid then 2 weeks puréed and then solids if I can handle it. I’m getting gastric bypass surgery

Mine was June 8…gastric bypass. I did modified liquid (read occasional cheating) starting 3 weeks before. More modified liquid (almost no cheating) 2 weeks before. 100% compliant liquid -not even the thought of cheating- one week before. Two days before surgery, it was difficult, but I attribute of that to nerves.

i am

2 weeks post op tomorrow. liquids since June 10 when I got home. I’m not hungry, and I feel better than I have in 25 years. I am meeting my liquid and Protein goals.

good luck to you!
