Medical Marijuana Edibles After Gastric Bypass (RnY)

I'm prescribed MM for diabetic neuropathy pain, and got both tinctures and edibles and they do quell the pain and burning enough to allow me to have a restful sleep.

Taking the same amount with both, the edibles are way less effective, so...I'm thinking I can no longer process them correctly due to my bariatric surgery?

Does anyone have any experience with this or know that this is a fact?

Thanks.

I tried medical marijuana pre op and it gave me the munchies. Doesn’t it do that for you guys? Is there some secret to not eating everything in the house??

I tried it for anxiety but I honestly don’t even know if it helped because I was too busy eating everything.

Good to know. If I ever do give it another try I will have to ask for sativa or hybrid. I am honestly not even sure what I got but There was no fighting the cravings with the stuff I got. I’m sure it was supposed to be calming though because I got what the dr recommended for anxiety.

You'll have to let us know how it goes when you do. I have the best time with my edibles. Enjoy!

I order from Lazarus Naturals.

I do, too. I trust their products, and their customer service is terrific.

I’m currently taking THC gummies to help with insomnia. I researched the effects of THC and CBD on Bariatric patients before I started and studies show it has no negative effects on weight loss. I originally tried CBD gummies and they made me feel super alert, like I drank coffee. I was up until 5:00am!

The THC gummies are Delta 8 strain, 20 mg per gummy. I take one and it works within one hour and helps me relax and sleep deeply. I don’t like how I feel afterwards, kinda zombie brained. I only take it about twice per week.

So it's been awhile on this post, but! What you really want to pay attention to are the terpenes. Humulene is a terpene that's supposed to curb appetite and is found in many weed strains. If you're going to a dispensary, the labels usually break all that down, but I'd do your homework before buying anything. Good luck!

I hope you're doing well on your journey to managing diabetic neuropathy pain. It's not uncommon for individuals who have undergone bariatric surgery to experience changes in how their bodies process substances, including medications and treatments like medical marijuana.
It's a good idea to consult with your healthcare provider to discuss your observations about the differing effectiveness of tinctures and edibles. They can provide insights tailored to your specific medical history and current situation.

Hi I am from a state where marijuana is totally legal. You might want to try a Canna-Tsu Hybrid strain, this strain reduces munchies and some people even lose weight.

Basically look for lower THC, and higher CBD, and TCHV levels.

Thanks all. While I did have gastric bypass in 2015, and pretty much aware of my issues with digesting some things, I just started MM last month, so...had no experience with this.

The edibles are gummies, and I've tried both chewing them up and swallowing, or just keeping in my mouth as they dissolve and get the same results.

At my next prescription renewal, I'm going to get all tincture, with no edibles.

All of the literature I was given by my bariatric team about vitamins and supplements stated to avoid anything gummy because it's going to be much higher in sugar and won't absorb as well. That could be the issue.

You could try a tincture. I have one for sleep I use on occasion, you just put a few drops under your tongue and you're good to go.

It sounds like you're on a journey of exploration to find what works best for you. That's totally understandable, especially when it comes to medical marijuana edibles and their potential benefits.

If you're looking to learn more, have you ever thought about checking out delta 8 gummies near you? They might offer a different option to consider.

I started super low dose after a couple months post-op and waited to see how it hit me. Effects kicked in faster than before surgery, so I had to adjust how much I used.

I’ve had some nausea issues too and gummies helped, but I always keep the dose super low and wait longer since our absorption’s different now. I also looked into other CBD uses and found this interesting: https://releaf.co.uk/education/medical/dermatology/the-potential-benefits-of-using-cbd-for-skin-healing —cool to see how CBD might help beyond just relaxation or sleep. Just go slow and see how your body reacts post-RNY.
