Following Pre Op diet and not losing weight. Suggestons?

Recommended Posts

Happy friday all - I am scheduled for surgery next Wed and the MD wants me to lose between 10-20 lbs. I have been adhering to the 3 Protein Drinks, 2 cups of veg and 2(1/2)c of broth each day. I have been on it for 7 days and only lost 7 lbs. Any ideas/tips? I'm hardly eatting anything and it should be falling off me. Thanks!

you may be down at least another 3 lbs by then - that's still a few days away. Do you retain Water? If so, it may be the sodium in the broth - you may be hanging on to a lot of water. Regardless, I'm guessing you may be down another 3 lbs by then

I agree. You are likely retaining Water from the sodium in the broth. Make sure you are getting plenty of water in to dilute the sodium. You got this! :)

Remember, the main point of the pre-op diet is to make the liver smaller and less friable for the surgeon. And 7 pounds in 7 days is actually fantastic!

7lb sounds like weight loss to me and is pretty good for seven days, and you will likely lose a few more pounds before Wednesday.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
