Sick of Liquid Diet

Yes. I am soooo sick of the liquid diet. I have one week left, but I am really considering cheating, which is very unlike me.

I had two weeks pre-op liquid and tomorrow will make two weeks post-op liquid. Other programs allow purée and I’m dying for any type of real food!!! All I’ve had is Gatorade, Protein Drinks, and clear broth. I dont even like Gatorade.

I asked the doctor if I could start soft foods a week early and was told no. Trying to convince my husband to make me 1 scrambled egg or ricotta bake, but he won’t. I’m cranky,

Keeping counting dowm them days, I told my husband in 4 days right after my appointment we are going straight to get a scrambled egg 🤣🤣🤣 I dont even like eggs 😂😂😂😂😂

Ugh I’m struggling with the same thing. Had RNY on March 25th. And I’m doing great on liquids I just want to put something in my mouth to chew on! It’s killing me. I still have 7 days left 😭😭

My Gastric Bypass surgery was march 25th too. I can not wait for the soft food diet!!

I’m only pre-op but when I’m struggling and craving real food, I try to re-frame my thoughts. Focusing on “I can’t have xyz” makes me crazy and pissed off! So i re-framed as “every second I make choices. No one is making me do anything. I am choosing to be safe and eat what will prepare me for surgery.” In your case, you’re choosing what will help your heal safely. Give yourself props for the fact that every second for the last week plus, you have chosen healing.

I’ve been there I was losing it, everywhere I looked there was food. It definitely suck but I promise it gets better and makes that first day of purée foods a blessing. I’m 12 days post op and I had the same feeling. TRUST me it gets better and I know it’s easier said then done but it will get better.

It's a hard period of adjustment for sure! But don't forget that you committed to this tough part. You need to follow through, follow instructions and stay safe. If you bust a stomach incision it can be life threatening and will result in a brutally long hospitalization and a much LONGER liquid diet! If you totally lose your mind and eat something....never skip ahead more than one stage. Maybe your doctor can clear you for something like blended cream Soup or thin hot Cereal? It can't hurt to let your provider know what a tough time you're having and see if they can help. Was a tough stretch for me, too. Hang in there! Best wishes!

thanks for sharing this same for me barely one week into post op liquid and those commercial ads are not helping!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
