I haven’t gotten a date yet for surgery but hopefully it will be soon. I know it’s hard doing the liquid diet ? However what Protein Shakes do you all drink ?

I use either Trader Joe's Pea Protein Powder (affordable) or Garden of Life vanilla Protein powder (pricey) and blend with soymilk. The Garden of Life tastes better but it's expensive $35-$45 depending on where you get it. If I remember correctly the Trader Joe’s is $10 (don't' quote me), and they also have a hemp protein powder but not sure if that's allowed.

In St. Louis, the sleeve (I didn't mention that in my original post), I'm so nervous!

I'm getting the sleeve too. Good luck to you! Hanging out here (and in the Facebook group for my facility) has really helped A LOT with nerves.

Just had my gastric bypass surgery on Nov. 4.... I am eating some foods already and have not had any problems at all yet, but my servings are weighed and most times I can’t eat 4 oz. .. my problem is getting those stinking high Protein Shakes down. It’s enuf to gag a maggot!!! Are any of you getting lower grams of Protein shakes for that reason and is it working??? Best wishes and success to you all getting it done this month! So glad this forum is here!

Tomorrow is the day for my surgery. I have to be at the hospital by 5:15 am. I'm ready to get this started but I must admit I'm a little scared. Anyway I hope everyone nothing but great luck on their surgery and new beginnings.

Aww! That’s the same time I had to be there too- they told me that time means you’ll be one of the first and the dr will be FRESH. So good news! You’ve got this and you’ll be fine!!

I was sleeved last Saturday. I just gagged down a Fairlife chocolate shake. It’s one of the least sweet options. I never liked sweet anyway. I can start on some real stuff the day after Thanksgiving. Getting in the Protein is a chore for sure.

Thanks so much for sharing!! I have not tried Fairlife, where do you find it ? What’s the Protein content ? Is it powder or pre-made? If it’s pre-made can you buy just one to try? I’ve got at least $150 in mixes, and I hate each one, plus one brand that was pre-made that was just as bad. 😖😞

Have you tried Protein Water? I find them way easier. Premier Protein makes one called clear. There is also proteinh20.

I drank muscle milk lite pre made. They made it easy to get the right amount of Protein in and they are tolerable.

I got mine from Sam’s Club but I think costco has them. Walmart and supermarkets might sell them individually. The chocolate and vanilla taste like milkshakes and since it’s ultra filtered there isn’t any lactose - no bubble guts for me.

Thanks a bunch Catgirl! Pictures are great, and we have a Sams Club, so I will try it out. Wonder if I could find 1 bottle somewhere to try, as I’m spending a fortune and throwing it all out. I appreciate your recommendation, tho!

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
