WARNING GROSS PICTURES Lisa's Surgical Wounds

Recommended Posts

FOR THE STRONG ONLY... GROSS PICTURES ATTACHED OF MY NEW OPEN SURGICAL WOUND. Darcy, this one's for you.

My wound was left open intentionally. It is packed with several feet of gauze that is packed way into the gap that was left behind from the port. Billy will remove the packing today and replace it with several feet of fresh gauze, and my friend back home will unpack and repack the wound every day. The object is for it to heal from the inside, out. So, hopefully the inches of gauze will get a tad smaller every day.

Dr. Billy opened the port incision to clean it and to remove the port. He also made small slits in 2 of my original wounds (you can see bits of white Steri-Strips) to insert the camera for the laporscopy (sp?) and he made one brand new incision... can you find it? Nope, cuz he was nice enough to hide it inside my belly button, so when it heals it will be completely concealed.

Get your barf bags... Darcy, enjoy.

As you can see, I'm severely allergic to tape/bandages, so Penni got really creative this morning with paper tape. Here's a close up that shows the entire area - most of the red is from allergic rash from the bandages.

I know you siad it was gross and my curiosity overcame me and I had to look. It is gross, but not so bad...it should heal up nicely. It is much better than I would have imagined. I'm glad you have so much support and love from your friends. Keep getting better!!

Well on a happier note, if you were looking at the closeup without knowing what you were looking at, the closeup looks like a happy face with bad teeth, maybe that's a sign your wound is happy and will heal now.

ROTFLMAO!! :D

Okay, do I have to reimburse my company for the smelling salts, and the carpet cleaning? barf! But I couldn't resist looking... Couldn't, couldn't, couldn't...

Just like standing on the edge of a cliff, you can feel gravity sucking you ever closer to the edge... lol

OOOweeee, you should show pictures like that to folks who haven't been banded yet, we might want to change our minds. I hope you get better soon. So they took the port out, did they put another one in or does this mean you are not banded anymore????

Here is what Lisa did when Billy was working on it. Lisa is not subscribing to this thread because she doesn't want to, will no, and will NEVER look at these pics because she CAN'T do it.

OK here is a pic of the wound after Billy took out the miles and miles and miles and miles of disgusted, soppy, bloody, strip of gauze that I absolutely loved watching being taken out of her grand canyon hole in her tummy. Then I watched Billy cleansed the wound and nearly climbed in to help. He almost had to push me out of the way. (Saturday as the RN was starting the IV I started looking for a vein in her opposite hand, Needle was too far away I couldn't reach it. Darn NURSE!!! --- I love to inflict pain. LOLOLOLL!!!!)

OK here is the really gross ones. SO don't look OKAY if you are faint of heart.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
