3 weeks PO and no weight loss

Recommended Posts

So I had my surgery June 26th, and just past my 3rd week and only lost 1 pound. I am walking every day and have progressed up to 5k steps a day and not losing. I am in my puree phase and my typical day is a half an avocado, Greek yogurt, and tuna mashed. My Snacks are a SF popsicle, SF Jello, or unsweetened apple sauce. After surgery I was not able to drink the premier shakes as they induced nausea so I have been using an unflavored Protein Powder and mixing in a Zero Powerade and Water with crystal light. Not sure what I may be doing wrong and this Friday I start my soft food phase and not sure what my menu will be yet. Any help would be appreciated

Stay the course. I've had a week were I only lost a pound then the next week I lost eight. Did nothing different! Trust the process and follow the doctors instructions. That's my advice.

I just did a search on this site for "the three week stall" for you. Over 17,000 posts on this phenomenon. This happens to almost all of us.

See how it goes the next week but all that walking maybe be adding muscle which weighs more than fat

Yep, you’re in a stall and it won’t be your only one through this process. They may last a week, two or more. I thought of them as my body saying: ‘Stop! Hang on. What the hell on you doing to me?’ It was like my body needed to take breath to catch up to the changes I was making & forcing it to become used to.

Don’t worry your weight loss will start again. Just give it time.

I had my surgery just a day before you and reading what you have gone through i myself have had 1 week so far of a stall and just started going down again 1 or 2 pounds but i also experienced nausea well not so much nausea but like a burn or acid reflux with the Premier Protein so i have muscle milk Protein powder and mix it with unsweetened almond milk and its not bad but you gave me a good tip with the unflavored protein powder.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
