Getting Banded tomorrow (11/30)

Recommended Posts

Well it's finally here! I don't if I'm excited or ready to just call it off...surgery is scheduled for 7:30 am tomorrow (at hospital at 5:30 am) and I'm first on the list.

Here's hoping everything goes okay.

I have a question, tho. I'm scheduled as a day surgery. Anybody do the same? I thought it was mandatory overnight stay.

Thanks and please send good vibes!! Really freakin' right now. :faint:

Good luck with your surgery!

I had my surgery at 11am and was leaving the surgery center around 2pm. They make sure you are feeling ok and can swallow, etc before they send you out.

I was a day surgery, as well. I also had serious thoughts of canceling. Don't do it! BELIEVE me, you can do this! It is SO much easier than you think it will be. I think I was more afraid of the unknown than anything. But you'll do great.

I wrote it down somewhere else, I can't remember if I got out of there at 1 or 2. My surgery was finished at 10:30 and by 12:00 I was begging them to let me out of there. LOL Did great. Home was much more comfortable, anyway. Upon leaving the medical center, DH and I took a 3-hour drive to home and I did great. I don't think an overnight stay is necessary. I would have been climbing the curtains if they had made me stay.

Okay, good to know, thanks! I don't want to stay overnight (you're so right, it's better at home).

Thank you for the encouragement! I will let you know how it goes as soon as I can.:)

I had to be at the hospital at 6:30. Surgery at 9:30 and I was heading home by 3:00. Dh had the same thing but we didn't leave until 5:30. His surgery lasted a little longer than mine. The doctor didn't like where the band was so he re-did it.

Hi all! I made it through the surgery. Everything went really well except the surgeon bruised my liver. I blame that on myself because I didnt follow the preop diet as well as I should have.

It really only made me more sore but no complications. I'll post my recovery story on the other thread.

Thanks so much for all of your well wishes. BTW, got to the hospital at 5:30, surgery was 7:30 and I didnt go home until 4:30 pm! Was surprised they kept me so long but oh well. Felt really great to be home!:heh:

I was banded on the same date at about the same time, but my dr. requires to stay overnight. That was o.k. though. Gave me a little more time to work out the soreness. I would love to have someone to compare stories with. Are you having gas issues? I

Gas issues, yes! Noises I've never heard before...gas-x and walking seem to help. Also, lots of port site pain...feels like it's gonna just flip right out of there.

No nausea or vomiting (thank goodness) but I'm not sure if that's cuz of the phenegran or what. I havent eaten anything without taking that first and I've been able to take in everything normally.

I can't imagine not having the pain meds for the port site pain, tho. I've read some posts where some people are getting away from the meds. I'm actually calling tomorrow to see if my doc will give me more!

Other than that, everything's been fine. Took a shower today (which really felt good!) and I had a cup of coffee. That was good, too!:)

Hello! I was banded on 11-26, spent the night..and that was good, and have had good gas release. I find that if I lay on my back with my knees out to each side that I get some gas release. Also, start walking right away! This wakes everything up and starts it moving! Good luck to you...you are on your way!

I am trying to go back to work tomorrow, but the gas really is killing me. Everything I intake gives me gas. coffee did not go well at all. And I love my coffee. I will get some gas-x, right now I am taking mylanta. I intend to try using extra strength tylenol today, but don't have any liquid. I hope capsules will go down o.k.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
