anyone experiencing morning sickness? I have problems with Breakfast. I do not throw up but I really do not want to eat and when I eat I feel nausea. This just happens in mornings. Anyone else?

So last week's weigh-in left me in a less than stellar mood as it showed a significant slow down (.8 lbs) despite me exceeding my exercise goals. When it happened, I cut myself back from 4 prepared meals a week to 3 again and resolved to keep exceeding my exercise goals.

Well, that seemed to have worked out because I'm down 5.6 lbs this week. That was a nice start to the morning!

I give you a lot of credit I could not only eat 3 times a week. The liquid diet killed me it really screwed with my head. I really don’t know how you do it but congratulations on the loss! Way to go 😀

Oh trust me...I absolutely HATE it. If my surgeon had his way, I'd be doing only liquids and Protein Bars until I hit my goal. I've allowed myself a VERY gradual increase in meals per week. When he said it was okay for me to do meals, I started with 2 a week. Did that for 2 weeks and still maintained good weight loss. So I went to 3 meals a week for 2 weeks. Again, maintained solid weight loss. I then went to 4 meals a week and planned to do that for 2 weeks. Except after 1 week, my weight loss went from around around 3 pounds down to .8. So I stopped and went back to 3 meals to see how it went.

As much as I hate it, I can't argue with the results. So I'll stick it out at 3 meals for another 2-3 weeks and then see about increasing again.

I keep myself going by constantly reminding myself that this is only temporary and that I am making huge improvements. Maintenance mode WILL happen.

So questions everyone from July surgery 2020 what kind of exercises are everyone doing? I have very bad hips and have cortisone injections in both and can’t do things that would have any kind of impact. I walk on my Gazelle every morning but my loss is very slow oh and my surgeon doesn’t want me doing an workouts or lifting nor then 10lb because I had a very bad hiatal hernia repair with mesh had to be used. So does anyone have some suggestions. I have espresso with my Protein Shake every morning for Breakfast and then 3oz lunch n 3 oz dinner and some time a snack in between. But I feel I may need to move more even though it is hard or painful.

I started out walking and gradually increased my speed and distance. Then I started doing Leslie Sansone walk at home videos on YouTube. I was also needing low impact due to ankle and knee pain/issues. Now I I’m doing high intensity interval training (HIIT) on an elliptical at the gym for 30-60 minutes 4 times per week (still low impact). I also do about 30 minutes of strength training 2-3 times per week at the gym. I still do the Leslie Sansone videos (30 ish minutes) once or twice per week. It is my goal to also incorporate more outdoor activities as I go along, like hiking, cross country and downhill skiing, etc. Last week I went for an almost 5 mile hike. I still am avoiding high impact activities, but have incorporated some moderate impact activity. One of my knees is still causing me issues, but everything else feels so much better! Eventually I will have to address the problem knee, but right now I am keeping my head in the sand on that one 🤦‍♀️

I was eating about 600 kcal the first two months, but have recently been increasing to 700-800 due to activity levels and recent labs. I typically get 70 G Protein per day.

Walking is a great low impact, starter exercise. The walk at home videos are great to keep low impact, while getting a good cardio workout. If you have the means, getting a fitness tracker like Apple Watch or FitBit can help. I bought an Apple Watch while I was home recovering from surgery. It has really helped motivate me as I can see my improvements in fitness with heart rate and activity level every day. I hope some of those ideas help. Good luck to you!

I am walking, which is what I plan to be my main aerobic activity. I'm adding some strength training too with resistance bands. I started out so heavy fur my height (393 at 5'3") that I couldn't walk much at all but now I can do a half hour at a pace that gets my heart rate up. I am working up to an hour. I will probably add other types of exercise in the future but for now it's walking, which I enjoy.

Have you tried peddling? There are small Floor devices that allow you to pedal while sitting . I use 1 and 2lb weights to workout my arms. Hang in there!

I have the sit n spin one but for some reason my when I peddle the up down movement is very painful in my right hip. It kinda doesn’t go up n down normally it try’s to go side ways a bit. I know my hip doctor had me get that over a year ago but I can’t take the pain after like 3 min even with Percocet. Which I don’t want to use. But I have the Tony little Gazelle and I love that but because of the hip I can’t make it go very fast . I do 25 in morning but it only adds up to about a mile n a half but I never get out of breath or sweat. It’s always something right lol

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
