San Antonio TX Doctors

Recommended Posts

I am just starting on my research journey but would like input on doctors some of you might have used in San Antonio, TX. At this point I have met with a Dr. Patel that does lap band and gastric and thinks I need gastric but I know I don't want that. I have also met with people at True Results. I know that I won't be able to even think about doing the surgery until the earliest of Feb because of getting insurance approval, mind-set, etc. Please let me know who you used and why that doctor and support were your choice.

Thank you very much for your time.

Natalie,

I had lapband surgery Aug. 16.

I used Pilcher, He is a nice guy but I hate the office, they are very unorganized. They used to be with Weight wise on Huebner but were asked to leave probably something with $$. They now have new Dr.'s there and a nice new hospital which I was suppose to have my surgery in.

Dr. Duperier (sp?)

He is in the same office but they all see patients separately. He seems very good and popular. He did my first and 2nd fill and refused to do the 3rd because I have some probs with esophagus spasm and constricts.

Do some research actually do a lot and ask questions, etc.

Weight wise has these seminars where you can ask all kinds of questions.

Find out what the care is like AFTER the surgery.

I really liked weight wise and still buy my supplements there.

They have 2 places, one on Huebner and one on Sonterra.

There is a dietitician, counselor, exercise specialist and work out equip.

Anyone can go see it anytime.

I am also seriously considering getting "banded' and I live in San Antonio. I have registered for the free seminar with True Results. What has been your experience with them?

So far my experience with them has been good. I went to a seminar in early November, met with them 11/19 and had blood work and a x-ray done Friday. I need to call them this week to set up a stress test. I have emailed them a few times and received responses within 24 hours. So at this point I would say my experience with them is good. I wish you well and feel free to contact me at anytime.

Thank you so much for your quick reply. I will be attending the free seminar on Monday. Were there any other doctors in San Antonio that you went to in SA, and would recommend?

I am still doing research, like you. I live on the NE side of town so finding a facility on my side of town may be important. A friend of mine that was banded last year had a Dr. Cacoamo (sp?) out of Nix Hospital downtown do hers. This doctor is also affiliated with True Results. My friend is very pleased. Ask more information about him if interested. Another doctor that is part of the True Results family is also a doctor at the Innova Hospital on Southcross. My friend says that the best thing to check on is compatibility with the doctor and staff as well as the follow up care. Support after surgery is imperative in my mind. I understand that there is another doctor over at NE Baptist that I am hoping to get information on and meet with in the next few weeks. Good luck on your search. Please post your findings as you go through this maze of information.

You're right. Location and compatability with office staff are important to me too. May I ask - are you using insurance or are you self pay? Are you telling lots of people about the surgery or not?

Also - on another thread I saw and advertisement for Dr. Jorge Rincon - he's with San Antonio Weight Loss Clinic. (Downtown SA) I went to website and they are having a free seminar on 12/11 at 6:30 p.m. - There was also an advertisement for $1,200.00 for surgery and 1 year post op fills. Just thought I'd share that.

just Thought I Would Mention That Dr. Wright And Dr. Carcomo Did My Surgery. I Have Been Very Pleased With Everything. My Recovery Went Smooth. I Never Have Any Trouble Getting In For Fills, And Most Of All Dr. Wright Is Great At Doing Fills. I Have Not Been Disappointed With Anything. Their Staff Is Very Friendly As Well. They Are All Great. Their Office Is Located Downtown By The Riverwalk. Hope This Helps.

Sweety - Thanks so much for the information. What is the name of Dr. Wright and Dr. Caracamo's practice? Do they offer free seminars or Q & A's with doctors? Is it hard to get scheduled?

Sweety -

Thanks for information. I am signed up for True Results free seminar on Monday. (12 noon) I am glad to hear you have had success and your post-op has gone well too. I am of the mind set that going with a group like True Results you benefit from the experience of all those involved in the group. Plus - I also feel that a group has to stay up on all the latest changes, improvements in their area of expertise.

Sweety - May I ask when you had your surgery? I notice by your "ticker" you have lost of 40 lbs.! Awesome! So be honest - was it easier or harder than you expected? Can you also give me some input on your recovery time.

my Surgery Was Done On June 29th. Recovery Time-about 3 Days Of Soreness, But No Pain Or Anything. Just A Little Trouble Getting Out Of Bed Or Off The Couch. Hardest Thing For Me Honestly, Was The Coughing-not Fun. Use The Breathing Aparatus They Give You It Sooo Totally Helps.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
