Looking to connect with people that have had their band a while and are still happy with it! I’ve had mine for 12 years! Sw 314 Lw 170 Cw 223. I’ve gained some back and wanting to find some support to help refocus.

Hello there! I too have been banded for 12 yrs. I’ve lost and maintained a 120lb weight loss. I’m extremely happy with my decision and it’s getting harder to find long term banded people out there.

Very few of us banders around. I like my band... mostly .
It has been over 13 years and it just works. I think the band trained ME
Best of luck to us all.
Am I the only one that wonders how long ???

Julie, you’re not alone. I wonder how long my band will last as well, but fortunately I’ve had zero problems six years in. I never “test” it, and I maintain a healthy respect for the rules, including no NSAIDs for my arthritis.

If I ever had problems and needed it removed, I would certainly have another WLS again.

I love my band.

Thanks for the reassuring words.
I just want all to stay the same.

Old lapbandster here too! Have been banded for 10 years. Love my band most of the time and have no plans to remove it. Not for now at least. I think a lot of the problems are due to a band that is too tight. I was having issues in the past two years and found that an unfill + progressive fills to a lower level to have solved 90% of them. Don't let the band get too tight as it can happen even if you have not had fills for years! I am 14 pounds heavier now at a lower fill level but would rather be a little heavier and comfortable than thinner and miserable.

So nice to see positive comments, I just got the lap band three weeks ago and am excited and scared about what’s to come, I’ve already lost 9.4kg, excited to see if I can reach my goal!!

I am getting my lap band on Wednesday and I am super anxious! I hope things go well and that I don't suffer too much. I look forward to eating again. This strict Protein Drink before and after surgery is difficult but glad I am working from home so that I don't smell food all day long.

You are almost at the point, where you get to eat soft foods. Are you in a lot of pain?

Hello all! 3/1/2003 I got my lapband and it was my 2nd BEST EVER decision. I was at 318 now I'm at 160 and healthy as a horse! I'm glad I took it slow. I started serious working out in the last 5 years. Other than a saggy belly and some fat around my knees and thighs I am ECSTATIC with my results! Oct 2019 I had a new band because the old port gave me trouble and Fluid wouldn't stay in. Before that I would get "tuneups" at nyu...takeout all fluid and refill with new fluid.

My before 2003 and after 2020 attached

And no, at my age 58, (5'7"), I would never consider getting plastic surgery.

I have heard some horror stories about the lap band, but I had surgery on the 17th and I am down 22 pounds and I don't have any stomach pain or hard time breathing or anything getting stuck (thank goodness). I am eating three meals a day and drinking Water in between. I just started eating soft food and while I didn't lose any weight this week, I also didn't gain any weight - which is good. I am sure once I incorporate some more exercise, my weight will go down. I am not expecting miracles - 1 to 2 lbs a week, will make me happy.

I'm also a long hauler, LOL! Banded around 10 or 12 years ago. The weight loss was about what the doctor predicted... I do manage to go up and down 20 pounds when I fail to keep a food chart... but the band makes it easier to get back on track. I think it is very important to pick the best doctor possible, and to do the follow up visits! My doctor insists on 6 month to yearly visits to ensure that any problems are quickly resolved before they turn the band into a horror show. So far no problems. But if the band ever needs to be removed, I will be happy with what it accomplished for the time I had it. It allowed me to enjoy life, do cruises and travel and enjoy life.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
