Hi everyone, I have a question. I had the sleeve done on 1/3/20 (11 weeks ago) starting weight 267 & now down to about 235 however I’ve been kind of like in limbo for several weeks. I may go down a lb every so often but I just feel like it’s not enough. I barely eat so I’m wondering if I don’t meet my Protein goals if that will affect my weightloss? It’s soooo hard to consume that much protein. I’m a stay at home mom so unfortunately I don’t get much exercise as I should & now with everything being shut down the gym is out of the question. A few weeks ago I did go through a stall where the scale wouldn’t budge for a few weeks, I lost a few pounds & I’m stuck again. Help 😞

You absolutely have to eat to keep that weight loss going. Your body needs those calories and that protein. If it doesn't it'll do what it has to to hold onto that weight. Try your best to keep that protein up. On days where it's hard for me I drink a Protein Drink, usually just Premier Protein. For me they're very easy to drink and gives me a quick 30g of protein. It's usually better to get your protein from food but we have to do what we have to do. Unfortunately you're right about the gyms. I was just getting back into working out and they shut them all down, even the one at my work. Try to keep your activity level up though. Just walking will help tremendously. Stay focused and on track and you'll be fine.

I also drink a premiere protein everyday. I cannot get 60 grams of protein in from food only, it's just not possible for me. So I just focus on two meals a day and then the shake. I've been eating a lot of fish and seafood cause the protein levels are so high. I get frozen fish at aldi/Costco which makes it easy to keep fish available. The concern when you don't get enough protein is that your body will begin to cannibalize your muscles, which can affect your organs. Anyways, good luck!!!!

Hello everyone, since gyms are closed I wanted to share I am using YouTube workout videos to keep working out. I am surprised how well they work. My gym routine was getting easier and after one 30 minute video I was sore the next day. It's a good way to stay on track especially since extra Snacks are difficult to avoid with so much time at home. Surgery 1/14 weight 257 current weight is 212.

I made bread today for my family and took a small night to see how it went, and I'm happy to report I had no stomach issues. It's nice to just have a small bite of something as feel satisfied. Plus my family is happy to have fresh baked goods in the house again

Good morning friends! My weight loss has slowed also, but I'm okay with that as long as I'm still losing. I weighed 209 this morning, so that makes 34 pounds since 1-27. Honestly, I'm eating pretty much what I want now, no junk, just eating healthy and I'm averaging 700-800 calories a day. Last night I had part of a burrito made with a low carb tortilla, lean homegrown ground beef, lettuce and Tomato, and I admit, I did have 4 whole grain chips, so I guess the chips were junk, but before surgery I would have inhaled a bunch of chips and salsa. My energy level is back to normal and I think that has helped with exercise. I'm riding my bike when weather permits and doing yoga when the weather is yucky. I didn't measure before surgery, but I'm monitoring inches lost with how my clothes fit. Before surgery, size 18's were tight, and I had a few pairs of 20's. Now, all of my 16's fit, and even a few 14's, so I know I've lost a bunch of inches. I'm holding off on buying any new clothes because my closet has 3 sizes, although I had thrown away or given away most 14's, but I still have 2 pairs of jeans and one pair of black pants and I have lots of leggings that I can wear for a while. Oh, and I've had wine twice. I know, I know, I shouldn't have, but it was sure good and I only had a small glass of Cabernet each time. It did not make me really tipsy like most people experience. ?? We're still social distancing because of DH's health issues, but I have to go into to work a few days a week. Thinking of all of you during this difficult time and hoping everyone is still doing well with your weight loss. Let's don't this stressful time get us down!

I am OVER the Protein Drinks, but I do use a scoop or a half of scoop of GENEPRO Protein Powder everyday, either in a smoothy, or mixed in food like Beans, cooked veggies, Soup, or eggs. It's got 30 grams of protein and only 58 calories. Like you, I can't get in 60 grams of protein without a little help.

Yeah, i have the powder also. I need to give it a try, but in so lazy about using the blender to make my own smoothies ha ha. Fortunately I am doing fine with the premiere protein for now. I'll have to try the powder in Soup, that sounds like a great idea!

I'm glad you're doing well with everything. I still have days where I wake up and it's all I can do to get my fluids and supplements in, and then days where I can eat two meals and get everything else in I need. But I'm happy with my weight loss and with getting back to walking I'm excited to see how the next few weeks go.

How is everybody doing with their fluids intake? Do you guys still get dehydrated? I had some issues with dehydration, but now it’s getting easier to drink Water. Got my surgery on the 22nd of January, lost about 45lbs in week 3 ( didn’t eat almost anything for couple days or drink much the first 3weeks). Didn’t have to have pre op diet. The only issues I’m facing right now is gout attacks in my legs because I had a lot of liver with a lot of hot sauce for three days in a row 😅. The other issue I’m having is acid reflux when I lay down. The doctor gave 3 types of medications to take through out the day for the reflux, but I don’t like relying on the pills, so I’m visiting a Korean alternative medicine doctor who told me can fix the reflux with acupuncture. Paid him a visit last Thursday, and I have another appointment next Thursday. The reflux status is good so far after I got my first appointment along with avoiding the food that triggers the acids in my pouch. Sorry for the long message. I was just sharing what’s in my mind.

I haven't had any problems with dehydration and I rarely get in 64 ounces a day anymore, but I try. Most days it's more like 48 ounces. Glad to hear the reflux is better. I only had a problem with reflux one time and it was when I ate some turkey sausage and sautéed cabbage (probably not a wise choice!) I was prescribed Prazolan twice a day by my surgeon in Mexico as a preventative, and I guess it's done the trick, except that one time. My friend who had gastric sleeve a few years ago suffered from reflux and tried everything, several different prescription meds, then finally, she tried plain old Pepcid AC and it worked for her! Best of luck with the gout and reflux!

Hey! I had the sleeve done 1/7/20. I’m official down 60 pounds! I did just come off a three week stall which was so frustrating, but then I lost 7 pounds in 4 days 😂 crazy how this works.
I don’t get all my Fluid, but I try to get close. Only food I’ve had a problem with are the greasy meats. Sausage, bacon, brats, etc.
other than that things have been great!

You look amazing. I am down 50lbs. Since Jan 14. My starting weight was 289. My weight has slowed and I think I am currently in my second stall. Things have been crazy with work and the virus that I am struggling to get my life together along with my eating life. It’s a cheese stick here piece of tilapia there. The only thing I am consistent with is Water. If I don’t drink a good amount of water I feel so thirsty. I also do not flavor much water.
How is everyone doing with coffee? And what do I sweeten with or did I cut the sweetener all together. I am currently trying to wean myself to coffee with milk only. It’s.... going lol 😆
This time at home with the shelter in place order has me wanting to snack. When I am at work I am good because I am busy. But once I sit idle I feel hungry. I think I need to work on this mentally?

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
