Okay so I’ll join in.
I never, ever realized that losing this much weight would make me look like half my face melted into my neck.

The one thing I had going for me pre WLS, was my tight skin around my jawline and i actually enjoyed having a round face.

Now I see this very long face with hanging jowels that slides into a turkey neck.

Not a good look and it makes me look waaaaaasy older than my husband who is 7 yrs older than me.

@Sheribear68 - I worry about this even more than loose stomach skin. At least I can hide that. I carry so much weight in my face/neck that I am pretty sure I will be joining the turkey neck club soon enough.

I wish I could tell you it will all be okay, but chances are it will not.

That being said, I would still choose this 100 out of 100 times.

I’m saving for face plastics and will follow through on that at least.
At the end of the day I can wear longer shorts and tops that cover the shar-pei skin on my butt, thighs, and abs (not sure how my arms escaped looking drapey, but they look okay for my age) , but my face is pretty much out there for anyone to see and it’s looking older by the month.

I don’t want anything radical like a nose job, or cheek implants.... I just wanna get the loose skin tidied up and to have a jawline again.

OH NO, I hope you are not purging our twin pants suit?! I need to try it on again - SO much has changed since that date of November 7, 2019! Wow. And, here we are in February already... Three months later.

Oh no! I have't done a purge, yet, but the jumpsuit will survive!

I actually need to take your advice and head to the tailor and have the neckline augmented w the fabric from the belt. Post boob job, it's no longer work appropriate 😳

Today is my RNY surgiversary - that year went quick.

Today I also have a ton of head stuff that's come crashing down on me - I think PMS/perimenopause is also kicking my arse. I have been yo-yoing the same 5 lbs... this keeps happening. I will take a month or so of yo-yoing to lose a few pounds. There is no other reason than I am eating the wrong things/too much because I am battling years and years of food addiction (and shitty genetics). It's really REALLY doing my head in.

I have decided to try weight watchers... to just try to keep me accountable and on track. I don't know if this is a good idea or a bad idea but I'm going to give it a go because I am really scared that I am going to start gaining weight.

Anyway, if you haven't already guessed, I'm having a bit of a mini breakdown over here.

I think that is a great idea and goal!!! You are such a pretty woman with many years ahead to enjoy. You are right. Just like a front door is to our home, the face is to our bodies. Your face before the world is a worthy investment. When were are you thinking? This summer or fall in time for the holiday season? Keep remembering how adorable your elf outfit was this past Christmas...

I’m devastated. And I know it’s a first world devastation but it doesn’t take away from the depression I’m in now.

I’ve admitted I’m a shoe ***** but I also love clothes. Not trendy stuff but pieces that are different, special & not found in every shopping centre. Pieces that are never ‘out of fashion’.

One of my rewards for losing this weight was I would be able to fully indulge my passion for certain designers like I once could. I didn’t want a tattoo. I didn’t want to be able to run a marathon. I wanted a wardrobe of gorgeous clothes & to be able to wear high heels again. Superficial I know but it’s my addiction.

It’s like art to me. The fabrics, the cut, the designs are just so beautiful. They make me happy. I keep the pieces for ever & as I was losing this weight it was a joy to wear my old favourites again though these archived pieces are all too large for me now because I’m the smallest I’ve ever been.

Well, I just went to my favourite boutique (my dealer) to buy (get my fix) from the new seasons of three of my favourite designers (my drugs of choice) and NOTHING FIT. Absolutely nothing! The smallest sizes they had (size 38) were all too big. Some like hugely too big. I even put on the only size 36 they had, pants, & I could take them off without undoing the button or zip. WTF!?!?

I did have trouble when shopping in Melbourne last month but this was the lowest point.

I’m experiencing withdrawal symptoms. I’m going to have to visit net-a-porter but virtual shopping isnt the same as physically touching & trying the clothes on in a store. More tears. 😭

I hear ya. I have long ago sized out of lots of (women's) brands myself.

I don't know how you feel about these but: (a) some designers do children's clothes AND/OR (b) Asian designers have smaller starting points...

...there is also a good tailor or custom clothes designer?

But yeah, feels sh*tty to lose all the weight, be excited to wear clothes and then nothing effing fits.

Thanks so much! Those kind words have totally made my day.

The timing will depend both on when I can get the funds saved, and how much time I will need off, which will ultimately depend on which procedure I choose.

It’s almost impossible to take any time off in the winter months, but with LOA I could probably swing it.
Fingers crossed that I’ll be able to have it done early January 2021.
Lots of floaters are looking for hours, bc nobody wants to take vacay in January so I’m betting I’d have an easier time asking for time off then.

Anyways as far as pineapple juice goes have either one of you @ms.sss @GreenTealael tried pineapple Water? When my step mom is bloated she will boil pineapple cinnamon sticks and cloves and then drink it cold, sometimes even hot. You can add a sweetener or not but it usually helps her. Not the same as being swollen from surgery but maybe it could work ?

Ok, so I bought a pineapple at costco the other day (they were on sale!) and made 2 HUGE batches of pineapple Water.

I tried it hot, but seem to prefer it cold, so I poured the pineapple water into all these empty kombucha drink bottles we had and they are taking up a good portion of the fridge with them. I probably have about 3-4 weeks worth. Yikes.

I'm on day 3 of drinking it (1 bottle a day) and don't see any swell decrease, but I have been waiting for my period to come so there is that...

*crosses fingers and hopes for the best*

#atLeastItTastesGood

P.S. I made the mistake of eating some of the actual pineapple an got a really bad dumping episode.

P.P.S. Ingredients: Pineapple rind, pineapple core, ginger root, cinnamon sticks, cloves, star anise, turmeric, five spice, cayenne, erythritol-stevia blend.

It looks delicious! I need to try it with the turmeric and star anise. I really hope it works for you. :)

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.
