Do you know your bougie size?

One thing I wish I would have asked my Dr. before my surgery is what bougie size he was using for my sleeve. My restriction seems really good but it would be nice to know what size he used and I will be bringing it up at my next visit. Do you guys know yours?

  • I don't know, and really don't care (he may not have even used one, for that matter) - it's the end results that matter more than what specific tool the doc uses. When I first go into this, there was

  • Mine was a 36 French, but depending on how closely the surgeon staples to the bougie, the size might not be exact.

Yes... Too small ?

i almost would have agreed with you on Saturday. I had the most amazing Italian Meatball dish and it nearly brought me to tears when i could only eat one. It tasted so dam amazing. It is days like that when i am most grateful for the restriction and oddly most disappointed. I really like to play the mind games on myself obviously.

I just got back from my follow up and my Dr. said they used a 34 but they don't staple extremely close to the bougie.

I asked on the day of surgery - - - it was 36.

Oh good! I hope you're feeling good! Welcome to the losers bench ?

Mine used a 36. I asked him if he would use a 34 and he said no. Said he thought 36 was the safest size and had the most success without complications. For him, not all doctors. I’ve had no complications and still have pretty good restriction.
