Hi Batty!! Aren't daughters the absolute best!?!? If you don't mind me asking...does your daughter know about your surgery? My love bug is an even bigger worry wart than me so I'm thinking to not tell her until after it's done. How are you handling it?

I totally get it. My daughter can be a bit of an anxiety kid. She knows I'm having surgery, but I'm trying not to make a big deal about it. I don't want her to have my food hang ups -- so I decline treats with as little fuss as possible. She helps make my SF Jello so she can be involved.

She knows that this will make me healthier so we can do more. My weight had been so hard on my back and joints that I miss out on a lot. I try to emphasize that.

She kind of knows it's happening on Friday. I arranged for her to go to a sleepover on Thursday night so she'll have a fun distraction. My husband will pick her up once I'm in recovery.

Hi June bypassers! I just created an account after lurking quietly while I was waiting to be cleared for surgery. Last week, I got the go ahead. I was scheduled for gastric bypass on June 21 in Ontario after just over a year since my family doctor referred me (and that was after a year of me thinking about it).

I started the Optifast liquid shake diet and have so far made it to day 3. I gagged my way through the vanilla shakes on day 1, and have been experimenting to make them more swallowable. Ice cold Water blended with ice, a squirt of sf raspberry flavouring, and gulped down quickly leads to the least gagging for me. On Day 1 and 2 I could only stomach 3 shakes but today I finally managed to get the fourth prescribed shake down. It’s going to be a long 2 weeks, but so worth it. They may taste awful but thankfully they are curbing any hunger, and I’m not craving anything. I even made a dinner for husband and son (solid foods, all food groups!!) this evening and then baked a cake for my nephew’s birthday tomorrow. And not an urge to cheat at all. It’s going to be a liquid diet for me while I travel out-of-province to a conference for work, Celebrate my nephew’s 5th birthday, celebrate my 42nd birthday, and celebrate Father’s Day. Lots of challenges to face in the next two weeks! I’m ready for it though.

I’m both very excited for and very nervous about the actual surgery day! And lots of questions swirl around: Have I made the right choice? Will this really work? How difficult will the recovery be?

I’m thrilled to know I’m not alone and that many of you are going through the similar emotions, questions, and challenges.

Had sleeve surgery on June 4th. I’m 39 years old, mother to a 8 year old boy and 3 year old girl. I am diabetic, have PCOS, HTN, and Hyperlipidemia. High weight was 239, surgery weight was 227. Glad to be on this journey and super excited for what the future holds! Ready to reclaim my health!!

Hi June friends. I was revised VSG to RnY (related to GERD) on 6/4. I spent two nights in the hospital, due to poor intake and output. I’ve been home just over a day now and I’m doing well. Focusing on Water, I am not tolerating Protein Shakes, I did find a couple things that I am tolerating today so finally had some intake. Pain has been minimal, I am
Just exhausted. Excited for this next journey. I had about a 75# loss with VSG, and kept it off over 5 years, but was still 50# from original goal.

I did a liquid diet about 20 years ago. Not fun but quick results. Is this part of your supervised diet in preparation for surgery?

How are you feeling? I got sleeved yesterday. Not too bad but am trying to stay ahead of the pain.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
