I just finished day one, so I am mo pro, but my program allows Stevia in the plain yogurt. I found it to be easier than I expected, but we'll see how tomorrow goes! We can do this!! Jow many calori

  • It was difficult for the first 3 days for me, after that the hunger was gone. You're doing well sticking with it and it is draining mentally and physically. I was really tired on my 2 week liquid diet

  • The pre op week and the week after are rough physically and mentally. I was so lethargic! I’m not going to lie, the mental struggle has been the hardest part for me. But with each tiny victory it DOES

I went through the same thing. Unfortunately I cheated:( I hope you get through it. I bet if you wait till tomorrow maybe it gets better. Ideas....sf popsicles? Cream of chicken or mushroom soup? Those are more filling. Been doing powerade zero? Are you getting enough protein shakes?

I drink 3 protein shakes a day. I’m doing chicken broth, popsicles. Jello, puddings. I didn’t know I could do cream of chicken so I’ll definitely buy some tomorrow. Thank you for the encouragement. I just hope it goes by fast
Has anyone ever heard of someone not shrinking their liver? I don’t plan on doing the full two weeks as I’m afraid of falling below BMI to do surgery. I am right at the BMI to get it done.

Maybe you should tell your concerns to your team. I think once you are approved for surgery at a certain BMI it doesn't matter if you drop below. The liver needs to be nice and healthy. Not fatty for the surgeon's ease in doing the surgery. I would do the diet as long as your doctor told you to.

It's not really shrinking your liver itself...it's the fat around it :780_sparkling_heart:

Yeah she’s right. Check on the cream Soup. Mine allowed it but every dr is different.

Of course all plans are different, but here's mine:

Actually, obese individuals with fatty liver do have enlarged livers from fat within the liver. The diet is to make the liver smaller so the surgeon can work in there safely. ;-)

Hi All! I am on day 7 of PreOp diet. My surgeon allows food but low cal, low carb and small meals. I woke up in the middle of the night last night with a growling stomach. I am not used to being hungry so I is hard. I appreciate now what it feels like for people who don’t have enough to eat. I am not sure how to go the next 7 days maybe drinking more fluids will help? Any tips?

I'm on day 5 of the pre op diet, and some days are easier than others. Yes, I think more fluid helps, and also sugar free popsicles and sugar free jello. Im also allowed low carb protein shakes. I'm hungry all the time, too! We will persevere!

Try not to have Food Funerals because you think you will never again eat your favourite foods again, you will eventually be able to eat just about everything just not as much! Stay strong, the first few months are definitely the hardest. And try to use this time to wean yourself off of bad eating habits because they can come back into your life and ruin your success. Good luck ?
I’m on day 7. I’m surprised I’ve made it this far. It does get easier than day 1 but still hard. I cheated a little but seems like I’m doing something right since I’ve lost 4 pounds. Hopefully I lose more next week. Next week I’m going for my pre surgical testing , Bariatric class and clearance. I can’t believe it’s only a week away.
