Any March 2019 Sleevers?

Recommended Posts

Sleeve scheduled 3/28/19 …. feeling anxious, nervous and want to get on with it. Reading some of the post surgery reports.. now has me wondering how I will do. Some sound like its what they expected... some had a tough time and just wondering how I will do.

I was asked to scale down the diet with basically some pre-op meals consisting of low calorie and zero carb intake and 2 days before surgery Clear Liquids which I'm sure will be the hardest. I've been stocking up on different Protein Drinks, soups/bouillon and bought a new Water bottle... yee haw for he new water bottle... just hope I can get enough in as it seems some are having tough time getting in enough fluids.

enough rambling out of me....

Best of luck to all and hoping for a speedy recovery for those still battling the after effects.

Hello all!! March 18th here.. I had 72 hours of absolute misery where I actually second guessed myself. I'm here now feeling almost 100% normal ( some soreness around surgery sites) except for the fact that a few sips of Water fills me up and I'm just not hungry. Looking forward to the challenge ahead knowing the rewards are great. Thank you all for your posts as I learned a lot from them.

I was sleeved March 13th and have only seen a 5 pound difference on the scale. Maybe we're the unfortunate slow losers? I'm really in a regretful state right now.

Hopefully so! I'm really thinking it may be because I need to up my Water intake and do more walking. So I'm going to start going to the gym today and do at least 30 minutes on the treadmill. Hoping that will pick up the speed a little!

I was sleeved March 8th!!

Pros: I’ve lost twenty pounds!!

Cons: I’ve had EXTREME incision site pain...it has gone down a lot in the past two weeks, but it’s still painful. It didn’t help that my doc only sent me across the border with four pain pills and can’t prescribe in the U.S. 🤦🏼‍♀️ If I do too much I’m absolutely knocked out and I can’t wear anything that isn’t loose around my incisions (pants, shorts, leggings, etc.) or I’m absolutely dying lol.

I guess I’m wondering if anyone’s had similar experiences with the pain?

I had my surgery on March 14th, and had a very similar experience with feeling like garbage for 72 hours. I got home the day after and for nearly 3 days I thought something was wrong with how tired I was.

Now I am back to normal. Unfortunately I seem to still be hungry. I had my 5 day post op visit with the doc and she said that perhaps as I go into the pureed stage it will go away.

March 7th and i still am having bouts of extreme tiredness. I really dont remember much about the first week + after surgery. Thank God my husband kept me on my liquid schedule. He got me up and walked me.

I also had a fairly large hernia repair that was fixed during the surgery. I am so grateful to my surgeon. I found one of the best and the staff was so excellent.

Ohhhhh yeah. My surgery was march 7th. It will still take my breath away on occasion. Only pull-ups for me. The ice bags helped take away the swelling and i use the belly band when im just too sore. I know the surgery pain is diminished but the internal swelling \incision sites are sore. This is my 8th abdomial surgery: two c sections, gall bladder, hernia etc etc so this wasnt my 1st rodeo, it didnt make any difference, healing comes with some pain. Its not just "uncomfortable", it can hurt

I howver, was given good pain meds etc etc & to help with the moods swings. No one told me about those!!I

Lost 23 lbs, but im not going to be a scale watcher. Im in for a healthy lifestyle

Thank you everyone for your well wishes! I totally forgot I wrote an update here... I'm one week post op today. I gained 15 lbs in water weight overnight because they had to give me tons of fluids to bring my BP up after surgery! I stayed one night in the hospital. Everything has been fine except I seem to have picked up a bug while I was there and I've been running a low grade fever, coughing, and a sore throat. So I've been hydrating well and sleeping a ton. So far the Covid tests are negative.
I haven't been able to advance my diet past purees. Everything I eat other than tofu makes me choke and feels like trying to swallow rocks. They warned me it would get worse before it gets better, so lets hope this is all normal. I have my follow up on Monday so we'll see. Living on shakes and soup again is not fun. I had enough of them the first time!! LOL

Still purging all of the larger clothing. This morning, a shirt that I ADORED wearing ended up on top. Hard to let it go, but it was also hard to let go of those habits that also no longer serve my highest good. Onward and upward!

Have a great Wednesday too! Sorry you're hungry all the time, I'm pretty much the same..and I'm sick of eating the same food all the time.

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!
