I have a desk job, my surgery is scheduled for a Wednesday, do you think I will be able to return to work on Monday?

How long before you were able to drive?

I am also taking 2 weeks, even if I don't need it. Super lucky that my surgery is the 17th right before Christmas. Looking forward to resting... My parents are coming for the holiday and staying with me for 3 weeks, they arrive the day after surgery. That will be interesting... on second thought maybe I will go back before 2 weeks!

Don't risk it.

Take as much time off as you can. Could you physically be there sure, maybe.

But what if you have non stop vomiting or diarrhea? Having a desk job won't help much.

Or you may be fine initially then boom stricture on day 12 and back in the hospital you go for dehydration because you were busy working instead of hydrating.

IDK...

Why set yourself up for added stress like that? Sounds like a plan that can quickly spiral out of control. If timing is the issue try to wait until it works.

You may want to take at least a week as you will have a drainage bulb on your surgical site. It is a little disgusting to deal with outside of your home. If you can work from home all the better. I was off four days (Friday and the weekend) then worked from home for a week. Very little pain besides the gas bubble in my shoulder area. Good luck.

Not everyone gets a drainage thing. I didn't. But definitely worth asking her surgeon because it wouldn't be super pleasant to deal with at work.

I feel a little out of the ordinary here. I took a little over four weeks off. I want to be solid in my routine before I go back to work (I work in an office - but they're 10 hour shifts.)

My Doctor said 2 weeks I took 3.
Depends on your job. No heavy lifting. Prevent falls. Depends also on your Surgery recovery experience. Some recover faster than others.
At home you can focus on your recovery/ planned meals at appropriate time. Get ready with meal planning for when you return to work. Set a timer/ meal prep ect. I could of been ready in 2wks because i had no need for pain meds only the 1st day out.
