How long until you could tolerate meat?

Hey guys!

I'm 6 weeks post op and my doctor says I can now move to solid food- but I'm having a hard time with meat- even the really soft kinds like slow cooked pork, beef and chicken. I can however have ground pork and beef and it's fine.

How long until you sleevers got to tolerate actual solid food and what did you start with?

Thank you!

It can take many months. Seafood is, by far, the easiest to go down. Usually rotisserie chicken is very tender. Things like slow-cooked pork still have very long, tough fibers that are hard to chew do

Thank you! Weirdly it's the "harder meat" I can tolerate and fish and chicken just don't sit well on my sleeve. Hopefully this is just a phase and my sleeve will get over it. Thank goodness for e

  • I estimate it took me at least 2 months to figure out how to eat meat and even today, I don't do well with dry meats. I'm with FluffyChix. It's much easier with some sort of "meat lube" like a gravy o

Oh man that's tough. Weirdly I found that ground pork was the easiest for me to start with :)

I was never really into eating meat even before surgery so maybe that is also my problem? I've tried pork, chicken, turkey, and beef. After two bites, I start to feel uncomfortable and stop eating. Tofu, beans, cheese, and protein bars seem to go down a lot easier.

I made 2.5 oz meatballs in crockpot. They are going down fine with a little mozzarella and parmesan.just eating real slow and chew, chew, chew, then chew more.I am almost 3 weeks post sleeve

tofu was a lifesaver for me in the soft stage, especially when I couldn't tolerate the shakes anymore :)

just had about 4 oz baked grouper. It went down fine but i would have had the old way.FRIED,FRIED!!!!!!

I'm 5 months post op and still relying on ground meat

steak and chicken I can only eat a few bites and I'm done

i am struggling with slow cooker meat. I am almost 5 weeks post op. My dr said i can move on to regular foods and while last night i was struggling to eat the slow cooker chicken.. i managed to eat a burger patty yesterday. ( a whole one over the course of 45 min ) I have no idea how.. i was in a meeting and we had lunch and my boss kinda explained it as like it was eating popcorn and watching a movie.. while i am thankful it happened with meat.. it scares me it could happen with other food.
