Caffeine is acidic. When your stomach is healing you shouldn’t be adding anything to increase the. Acidity, heartburn, etc...

At the hospital they gave me a caffeine pill pre-operation to help me with withdrawal symptoms. Try asking for one if you feel a caffeine headache coming on.

I've tried adding caffeine back. It causes very loose stools for me. Cut the caffeine out and I'm good. I used to drink a gallon of sweet tea every 2 days!!!!

The docs office said the surgeon would address caffeine at my 2 week post op. The dietitian said i'd be able to have up to 200mg caffeine daily starting 6 weeks after surgery. Which makes sense. You want to avoid anything that might slow the healing process.

I have surgery in 5 days. I just stopped caffeine so I can go through withdraw if it happens. I will avoid it for awhile and add it in when I'm ready. I've heard it is not good during the healing process.

Good for you! I am now 79 days caffeine and soft drink free. It was a very difficult process for me.

I was able to have coffee the morning of my surgery (was not scheduled until 4:00) and the morning after my surgery. I have cut back to 2 cups a day and have had no problems. Strange how diet restrictions can be so different.

My surgeon and NUT said to wait until my stomach has healed and then I can add in small amounts of coffee. I never thought I could stand life without coffee but I didn't miss it like I thought I would. I was spending a fortune at Starbucks preop and it is nice breaking that habit!

Same! I thought I would be miserable but one i busted past the withdrawl, I feel oddly okay without it! Plus my pocketbook loves me for letting go of my starbucks habit lol

Lots of advice on why so I won’t add, but what I did was transition to half caff for several months then bit the bullet to full Decaf the week before surgery. Really wasn’t that bad and I NEED coffee, so you can make it through.

14 weeks post and I’m able to drink coffee again.

I made it to nearly 4 months post op before I broke down and had my first coffee. I’m not supposed to have caffeine, but it’s so ritualistic for me and so comforting.

I was *fine* until I started drinking the approved Decaf coffee and once I started doing that it was a slippery slope until I was back on full-test.

I mix it with chocolate nutmilk or Protein Drinks. It gives me so much LIFE.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
