Soda after gastric sleeve?

I don't think you'd like the feeling of the carbonated bubbles... I'm told it's painful. I wouldn't chance it.

Ask your bariatric team, it may not be forbidden on your plan. But if it is do try to follow their instructions.

I'm 15m out and still don't like the feeling of bubbly drinks. I have a beer once in a while and it takes me a couple hours to get it down or it's super uncomfortable. But everyone's different!

I had the stomach flu 3 months after my rny surgery..I tried a diet sprte..I was able to burp.. it was awesome.. everyone s probably going to give me crap about this but I have a couple cansof diet pop a day..still losing weight... nice to have some bubbles in with all that Water

I only drink soda now as part of a small cocktail, which cuts down on the carbonation. Straight-up soda no - I CAN drink it, but it makes me feel that horrible need-to-burp-but-can't feeling. So not worth it really.

Just my 2 cents: Why drink soda? It has no nutritional value, it is full of chemicals so who knows what it is really doing to your body/stomach/intestines, artificial sweeteners may impede your weight loss, and it is a waste of money to give to huge conglomerates that don’t care about consumers’ health. If you can break tour soda habit before or soon after surgery, I say don’t start up again.

Here is where you can make better choices.

I'll avoid the "soda" topic and stick to "carbonation"

First, you want to avoid carbonation for a while since WLS is an alteration of the stomach, so any extra pressure is something you want to avoid for as long as you can.

Carbonation is said stretch out your pouch/sleeve.

Some drinks are much more carbonated (obviously) so better choices would be... well... better.
BAI makes carbonated drinks. I found (once, still looking for more) a Kola nut version, this tasted like a Cola Soda. But had no calories (or anything else really) and was only lightly carbonated. Plus the BAI sized drinks are smaller typically than a normal can of fizzy stuff.

Should you talk to your surgical team, yes.
Will you ever be able to drink carbonated drinks... more than likely, but you really *shouldn't*.

Not trying to eat around my surgery. I had the surgery for a reason. However its not about being on an eternal diet thats not gonna happen it's eating well. The only thing I truly miss is that which is what i wanted to know how people have experienced it. Im not gonna have it everyday lol

I was never a soda person, but it actually physically hurts. I would stay away. If you really want it- let it go flat.
