Plateau during Week 3 post op

Recommended Posts

I lost 15 pounds after 2 weeks post-op and have been on a plateau during week 3 not losing 1 pound. Diet is non-fat cottage cheese and yogurt, egg beaters, mashed Beans, sugar free jello/popsicles and Premier Protein drinks. Calorie range 600-800.

What is going on? Any suggestions?

This is the dreaded 3rd week stall. Perfectly normal. Just keep up with the program and you will start losing again. We have all hit that same plateau. There will be others as well. Don't panic, just stay on track and you will be fine.

Stalls happen. And most commonly at the 3 week post op mark. Suggestions, keep doing what you are doing. Make sure you are hitting your Water intake, everyone posts about their food, but almost never about their water, your body CAN NOT process fat without enough water to do so... so make sure you are getting 64-128oz of water (Or as much as you possibly can right now) And you haven't stated your current exercise regimen. You should be walking pretty much once and hour, get into the habits now, it makes them easier later on. Don't worry about stalls, and do not focus ONLY on weight. You can lose body fat and not lose any actual weight. I've been stuck around the same weight for more than a week, but I've lost .7% body fat in that time. So, don't stress and don't get frustrated (not easy, I'm fully aware of that!)
Just keep doing what you are supposed to be doing and you'll be fine.

Thanks for the encouragement! It has been disheartening after the first 15 flew off so fast. Walking is no problem, however, I have been counting all fluids as Water. I will add 64 oz of H2O to my fluids and hope that helps.

This has been the same for me, during week four when I finally got to start eating regular food, I feel like my weight-loss has came to a stand still. I'm eating Protein, then veggies if I feel hungry still (which I rarely do) and Water has not been a problem for me... I know it is not a "fail" but it feels that way, right off the bat. The program I am on encourages 3 meals a day with no snacking... I had my one month post op appt. today and said, too bad, I get hungry every three-four hours and if it isn't meal time, I eat a piece of fruit or some veggies. They advised that, "though that is not the goal in the long run, its ok to do these things to get you in the right frame of mind until my body adjusts fully." I have a hard time looking into the future and not seeing my life this way, however, everyday, things change and I guess I'm just gonna keep working the plan and hope for the best. I want this too bad to fail. All you have to worry about is today, tomorrow will come and that is the time to think about that is what I have read.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
