Protein - How much is too much?

Question about protein -

Is there any benefit eating beyong 80g of protein a day? I noticed that some of you are eating 100g or more and wondered if there was a benefit to that. Thanks

Check this calculator, granted this is for a "normal" person and does not take into account WLS.

I think the ideal is 1 gram of Protein per 1 pound of lean body mass, right? e.g., I am 190#s, 46% fat, 100 pounds lean mass, so 100 grams protein a day -- not 75% of 190, which would be about...150 grams-ish. There's no way a typical obese person would be 75% lean...

Everything I'm reading does not specify lean, even the USDA's Dietary Reference Intake does not calculate based only on lean mass. What source did you find that states it's lean?

Thanks, Matt! This is great!

Its just something I stumbled across in my web wanderings Here's one link: https://www.livestrong.com/article/489271-minimum-protein-intake-per-lean-body-mass/

You'll find references all over the web.
