Almost quit on Day 1 of my pre-op liquid diet

Recommended Posts

My shakes are 160cals x 5 shakes a day = I’m literally having 800 cals a day. I’ve lost 8 so far but idk I feel that if I drink a nice cold beer or two that number on the scale will change instantly. Doesn’t feel like real weight If you know what I mean but I’ll take it. At least the doc will see the new number on the scale and know I gave it my all. When is your surgery?

So just wondering about how many calories you all are consuming throughout the day? I'm only getting about 700 and I've lost 6 pounds in 3 days. At this rate I feel I'm going to lose 30 pounds before surgery. [emoji53]

My pre-op liquid diet was 14 days of 5 HMR shakes and Clear Liquids only. My calories per day were 700-800. I lost 17 pounds in those 2 weeks. The preop diet really helped me mentally prepare and start thinking about food differently.

Had a proti Soup [emoji502] for lunch. I made it with very low hopes expecting a light broth consistency low salt not much flavor but was pleasantly surprised. Proti soup has 90 cals and 15 grams of Protein and looked just like a Lipton chicken noodle and tastes great Incase anyone wants to try it. Weird how it has less cal and protein than my shake but the warmth made it so filling and satisfying. And all the mixing and being over the stove had me feeling like I was cooking a mean lol [emoji23] I needed that.

How is everyone else doing? Today was my best day so far. I really got the hang of this (knock on wood). I think I’ll be fine the next 7 days. Only thing I’ve noticed is that I find myself being bored or just with extra time and feeling very present. I guess I used to eat when I was bored and disappear to a diff dimension while doing so because now I’m like huh what did I do before [emoji23]

That is exactly how I feel. Like I have nothing to do, I get bored, have extra time etc. and it just confirms how dysfunctional eating was for me. food was not meant to be my best friend but somehow it was. It didn't hit me until this preop diet.

I agree!! Today has been the easiest so far. (I mean, not to sound like it’s a walk in the park— I could totally devour any real food that was put in front of me), but I’m really glad that I went through the struggle preop so I at least have an idea of what to expect post op.

I also agree about the time. It’s amazing how much time I must have spent just stuffing my face aimlessly. Hopefully I can remember that and stay on track once I’m given the opportunity for a second chance.

I know right, it’s scary how we can use food to fill boredom or voids we didn’t even know we had.

Yea it’s like some self control that just came out of nowhere, like our body is like ok I know I won’t starve to death just give me the shake and I won’t give you an uncontrollable impulse to break this Protein fast [emoji28]

Hi everyone. I have been on the preop liquid diet for 12 days but have not met my target weight. I have not cheated at all. Could there be a reason this is happening?

Which Protein Shake are you drinking? How many cals/carbs and how many times a day?

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
