Recommended Posts

Ok so I’m 2 days out. I need to start drinking my chewable vitamins. Can I eat them already? Or shall I wait?? I’ve been worrying about it. Please let me know

What did your doc say? I'm not allowed to start my Vitamins until week 2 post op. I'm on day 12 right now.

Doctor didn’t tell me anything about Vitamins he just said everything liquid. I asked my discharge nurse and she said I could but I’m not taking her word for it.. I’m going to wait, I’m too scared to drink them.

check with your surgeon. If you are currently having Meal Replacement shakes they often have the necessary Vitamins included in them. Regular Protein Shakes won't though. Mine advised that if I am having at least 1 meal replacement shake a day I won't need to start adding any vitamins until 2 weeks post op when I start purees. Otherwise I'd guess they are ok once you are cleared to move from Clear Liquids to full liquids (but check first to be sure).

I'd check with the doctor, too, but I started taking pills (not chewable) Vitamins right after I got home. No issues that I recall with that.

With kaiser you take no Vitamins after surgery and when you do after a few weeks and have seen surgeon chewable only. I remember him telling me DO NOT swallow pills.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
