2 week liquid preop diet

Recommended Posts

How much is everyone losing on your preop liquid diet? I was told to expect to lose 15-20 pounds with majority being on the first week. I'm on day 5 of mine. I've been very honest, no cheating. Drinking much more than the required 64 oz. of Water. I started at 269 (273 day before due to my last meal being Thai food). I'm 266 today. So weight loss of 3 pounds in 5 days seems a bit low.

15-20 pounds sounds crazy, especially starting from 273. Most people lose 4 pounds of weight from the flushing of the digestive track (don't get too excited you will have to pay it back when you get back to solid food after surgery) plus about 1/2 a pound a day. I think I lost 10 pounds on the liquid diet some people will lose more, some less, but 15-20 while not impossible certainly isn't the norm.

Im on day 10 of my liquid diet and I've lost 5.5 pounds. My nutritionist said not to worry as long as I'm following it correctly.

I’ve lost 20 lbs already. I honestly think it depends on the person.

I was told I'd probably lose 8-10. I start my liquid diet may 21st! Surgery is booked for June 4th [emoji4]

My doctor said not to loose any more weight but I have at least 2 months before I complete my 6 month pre op. I’ve never been told not to lose weight before. My brain is freaking

Day 2 for me and okay so far! I don't expect to lose much as I've already lost a fair amount during the 6-month period leading up to surgery. A few pounds would be nice, though.

Really? My doctor told me it ok if I lose a bit of weight because insurance goes off of starting bmi , not finishing.

I'm now on day 5. Not so bad now. Day 2 and 4 were the hardest so far. 4 was because I went to town to go shopping. When I'm out I would just eat out. This time I couldn't. But I'm at a restaurant right now for family dinner. No issues. I'm just drinking my Protein Drink and enjoying family.

TMI alert:
I pee all the time! It's so annoying. I'm drinking probably 100+ ounces of Fluid a day. I try to hold it and go every hour, but today I had to go every 10 minutes. I felt pregnant again. How about you guys?

I’m already down to BMI of 40 if I loose 3 more pounds I’ll be in the 30 BMI’s
I haven’t met the surgeon yet does that make a difference?

Day 4 of liquid diet , I am so depressed

Hang in there hun. I know it can be boring and can make you think of all the OTHER stuff you'd rather be eating, but it's such a short time compared to all our years of weight struggles. Find some distractions (I'm gardening more than ever at the moment as want all autumn stuff planted before surgery 2nd May), add whatever flavour/variety your plan allows for.

You can do this!!!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
