Hi again

Did I mention I'm making dinner for at least 35 people tonight...I decided lasagne sounded good, forgot how much work it is to make, I have the sauce on which takes hours and then I will throw the rest together. This is the first time I have had all of my husbands family over, we lived in a condo for the last 5 1/2 years and it was too small for that many people. We moved into our new house in April and not all of them have seen it. It should be a fun night if I don't stress out too much and PB all over everyone LOL. I tend to get stuck and PB if I'm nervous.

Did I also mention that I colored my hair yesterday? Well I have always been a red head so I tried a new brand and voila!!! I have purplish colored hair, never and I do mean NEVER change brands! I'm going to re-color it again today before the troops get here!

Have a great day!!

Bernadette

Oh yikes...maybe a temporary color and lots of conditioner? I know when I color my hair (attack of the grays) it feels drier for a while afterward...just BE CAREFUL! :) Maybe a cute headwrap?

I'm so glad we are back in business!! Good to see everyone!!

I did the same thing to my hair many years ago. It took the hairdresser applying color stripper, bleach 3x, and then color 3x to get it where it should have been. She made me promise to NEVER do my own hair again. It's been 10 years, I guess!!

Ktork -- sorry about your dog..... My parents called me shortly after college to tell me abut my cat -- I knew something was up, they never called me. I was afraid it was my grandmother. I was ok until my Mom said your Dad feels awful, since it's his fault -- what?? My Dad is not a cat person. The now deaf cat was very old and got cold really easy so she took a nap under my dad's truck on the blacktop driveway......you can see where this is going. He held her until she passed and Mom said he was very upset since she was my cat.

Well, I've got to go -- I'm hosting a jewelry party tonight at my house. Lots to do!!

Got a deep conditioner on hand? Do the color, put the conditioner in, put a plastic cap on (or a grocery bag in a pinch), let it sit for 30 minutes while you do other stuff, then rinse it out and style as usual. Try to go easy on heat until it has a chance to recover...I would air-dry if you have time...

Good luck with the dinner party! :scared2:

~Wow! A couple of my posts from the 23rd are missing! Wonder how that happened?! And WHY????

~Slim, you have every right to be proud of yourself! You are NOT a failure! You've lost 76lbs this last year! I am so proud of you!!!! HAPPY BANDIVERSARY!!!!

~Crzy, I am SO sorry that you've caught the H1N1! I sure hope you get to feeling better soon. Sorry about you having to miss the training session too. That sucks!

~Oh Kristen! I feel horrible for you! I'm so sorry!

~Fab, best wishes with dinner AND your hair!! :scared2: One reason why I don't color my hair anymore. Too scary and too damaging!

~Suzy, have fun tonight!

PJTP: Completely forgot an NSV from the dr appt the other day. Haven't been able to take my BP med all week so figured it'd be a little high when they took it on Wed. Well, it was 101/72!!!!! WhooHoo! I'll keep monitoring it but I'm going to e-mail my PCP and let him know I'm off of it and don't plan to restart it any time soon! Eventually I'll probably have to go back on it b/c of BOTH sides of my family history but hopefully not for a good long time!

WI this AM and am down from what I weighed a few weeks ago. Didn't gain it ALL back from being sick but a good portion of it. I'm okay with that. I'm just happy to be able to eat and drink again!!

Have a great afternoon/evening! BBL!

I am happy the thread is open again and back to normalcy. I was an infrequent poster but frequent reader.

Krtork, I am really sorry about your dog. It is sooo hard to wake up to something unexpected like that.

Heartfire, I had an unfortunate experience after camping where my son left the car window open and a racoon got in the car. It was eating Cookies and had dumped a kerosene latern in the car. I had a hard time getting it out (open the door and running, lol). It took more than a year of cleanings before the car lost that oh so fragrant kerosene scent.

If I am in the same room with my baby and sneeze she is awake for an hour or more, lol. It makes me nuts :0)

OK I'm confused. Why in the world would we want to post onto a HUGE thread that has such goings on previously; esp when it can load very slowly b/c of its size? Why would Alex want anyone to be able to read all that? :(

Ok folks, I'm back... missed you all too much to stay away long. I just had the most wonderful romantic night for my birthday! My actual birthday was on Thursday and Chris and I went out for a lovely dinner at an Indian restaurant (YUM!) on Thurs night but last night was a special treat.

He booked the deluxe room in a gorgeous heritage style B&B cottage in Fremantle (the port city that is really now just part of the main city of Perth). We went out for dinner again (Turkish this time - also YUM!!) Walked around the old heritage markets, bought some yummy coffee Beans (expresso, vanilla and tia maria flavoured ones) and some new ugg boots (sheepskin boots) and then went back to our room to have strawberry champagne in the spa bath and a night of utter sensual indulgences... mmm... mmm... best birthday ever!!

Michelle~ Racoons are scary - mean little buggers! They love Cheez-its and tried to attack DH and I many years ago when we were camping. Glad you and DD were able to sleep in a little.

Crzy~ Hope you are feeling better soon! I do not want to get sick!!!! I'm handing out the Colorox wipes for the computers, wiping down the desks, hand sanitizer set out in strategic locations and handing out Kleenex as they walk through the door! Germs - ewww!

hair Color~ Scares me everytime I have it done, but I can't stand the gray!

Suzy~ Have fun tonight at the jewelry party!

PJTP: Good to see people joining in!

Thanks for the hugs for the doggie! It was a long hard day and I am glad that it is Friday and we don't really have any plans this weekend. Spend some time lovin' on the other dogs and just relax.

I am planning on a 5-6 mile run tomorrow. See how the weather is and what direction the smoke is blowing. We have been getting heavy smoke from a fire south of us, no fun to run and breathe that in!

PJTP...just before going to bed...

OK I'm confused. Why in the world would we want to post onto a HUGE thread that has such goings on previously; esp when it can load very slowly b/c of its size? Why would Alex want anyone to be able to read all that? :(

Hi SNT - I started another thread in the same theme / vein as PJTP, then when the original was re-opened, I thought it might confuse people to have two of the, so I asked Alex about merging them. I was afraid that some of the old visitors / posters might not find the new one.

That sounds wonderful, Fanny - and Happy Birthday again!

OMG - girl, sounds like you had a FABULOUS time...and you deserve nothing less!

Crazy. PJTP isn't the same....

I think I understand how you feel, SNT - for me, it's not the same either without all my other friends, but I'm not quite ready to leave LBT yet, and I'm hoping that having PJTP here again will help some others that may not be ready to leave either.

I do miss my other LBT PJTP friends, but I've connected with most of them via other means...I do not believe that this will replace the original PJTP, and you may have a point that we should have left the thread behind and started anew, but I didn't want to leave anyone out...

Headed to bed now - have a busy day tomorrow. Will try to check in. Hope everyone has a wonderful Saturday!:tongue2:

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

Good Luck this procedure is well worth it I am down to 249.6 lb please continue with the process..

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

      2. Doughgurl

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.
