I meet with my surgeon on 3/27 and I think he is going to give me a surgery date then. So I might be an April Sleever!

Thank you for the advice about Protein supplements. I’m still struggling to find something I like and my pre-op diet starts in about a week. 😬. I absolutely hate drinking Water so consuming 64 oz. is a bit of a challenge. Are we allowed to add anything to water such as a lemon or crystal light? I previously lived on diet Snapple so I am not sure what to do. I am very new to all of this and have not had my appointment with the nutritionist yet but know I need to be drinking water everyday from the info the surgeons office gave me.

Yes. I add it to my water. I also am drinking caffeine free tea iced. I get bored of water too. I’m on day for of my 2 week liquid diet. I’m using Premier Protein. It’s ready made and tastes pretty good.

I will be an April sleever, April 4th for me. Already on my pre-op liquid diet, but struggling to find a Protein Drink. I think it may be allergy to something in them. I’ve ordered Unjury and a few others, so I’m sure I’ll find something that works. Glad to see so many others on the same journey at the same time on here.

I think right now I'm still trying to digest the fact that this may actually really happen after all. My surgeon told me that my bmi is 50 which makes me high risk. I'm kinda tripping on that. It makes me wonder if I can ever get to a nice looking body instead of just healthy. Sounds selfish I'm sure but my head is spinning probably

My BMI is 66 and had been as high as 69. I know my body is going to be a mess.

I'm scheduled for 4/12... pre op diet starts this Wednesday for me.. I've stocked up on 6 cases of Premier Protein (choc., van., Cookies & cream). I also got 2 cases of clear premier Protein waters. I got vanilla whey Protein Powder, a unflavored protein powder & PB2. A ton of chicken broth & sugar free jellos & puddings. As for Vitamins I got chewable Multivitamins, chewable Calcium & chewable Iron which my nutritionist said I had to get, I also picked up chewable Biotin in case of Hair loss. I also have a NutriBullet, I hate most veggies & fruits but I find if I pulverized them I can drink them. I'm actually starting to get a bit nervous now it's fast approaching! Good luck to you, good luck to all of us!!!

Our dates are a little different. I'm April 3rd. But I'm right outside Nashville. My Dr is in Nashville.

2 weeks, and I'll be honest, I've sucked at it. My hardest time is at night. Tomorrow is mine and my hubby's anniversary. I told him after dinner, no more cheating. I do so good sticking to it until then.

My liquid diet starts tomorrow for surgery on 4/4! I woke up yesterday with swollen gums and they are pretty painful in a specific area. Does anyone know if I can see a dentist and get a cleaning a week before surgery? Would this affect me at all? I definitely don’t want my surgery day to get pushed back because of something like this and I’m hoping it gets better on it’s own but what if it doesn’t?

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
