Favorite things you can do now that you couldn't before, or things you're looking forward to doing?

Hi all, I'm getting sleeved on 3/19 and one of the things I've been doing is compiling a list of things I'm looking forward to doing that I can't do now, to keep me motivated once I start losing. I'd love to hear the things that you're excited to do, or for those of you who are already sleeved, that you can do now! I've been over 300 since the age of 19 (I'm 40 now) so there is a lot I have never been able to do. Some examples from my list:

-wearing boots

-camping

-going to Disneyland (we are planning this for 2019)

-ice skating

-flying and driving comfortably

-shopping at thrift stores (you can never find good supersize clothes at thrift shops)

Share some of yours! Thanks in advance! :)

giggle giggle definitely wiping the but a little easier, would be nice.

putting on boots nice and easy would be nice.

doing my own toenails would be nice.

being in a loving relationship that was sexual without being embarrassed about my belly would be nice.

Im looking forward to making a quilt with a little piece of every bit of cloths that no longer fit.

oh i could go on and on.

I want to make pillows out of some of my favourite geeky t-shirts once they're too big. Too bad I have no clue how to use a sewing machine.

Perhaps a little petty, but I'll say it anyway. All of us encounter people who feel they are superior in some way. Maybe they feel smarter, prettier, richer, more sophisticated, etc. Before losing weight I would have never had the confidence to challenge them and their unacceptable behavior.

Now I have no problem looking them in they eye, responding to their imagined superiority, and I never let them walk away having gotten away with it.

Kind of silly, but I enjoy it immensely. And guess what - they back down every time. Every. Single. Time. I love not feeling inferior.

Another small one. When I went to fill out application at OSU they wanted a list of medications, they had space for 9. Surprise I have many more than thst, luckily i,was a printout from last PCP visit they could print off of. I hope dome of those will be v deleted post surgery. Pretty awesome when you c ondider there are no great fiabetes, no antihypertendive, thete,is 1 migraine, 1 wellbutrin but a bunch and a half others. So,i hope a good portion go away.

Shopping and crossing my legs! Love it!

Let's try this again. No diabetes, consider & I hope a good portion go away. See what happens when I get sleepy? I can't spell diabetes but I can spell antihypertensive. That happens only if you're brilliant and dyslexic!

- I want to weigh less than my husband and be able to wear his jackets/sweatshirts/t-shirts. I hate it when I'm cold and he offers me his jacket and I feel embarrassed to put it on because Lord knows I can't zip it! (can I get an amen?!) ;) I don't want people to look at us like, how did that fat girl get with that guy who's in such good shape?!

- Tall boots

- Leggings, y'all! I want to wear leggings!

- To be able to keep up with my nephews and my niece without having to rest.

I want to weigh much less than Tomkitten (my son) -not easy since at our last mutual PCP appointment he weighed only 252 to my 300+. Then people won't say "Such a nice guy, shame he has to drag his fat old mother around with him!" he might enjoy hearing them, I don't. I should say ***** them all but I always cared too much what other people would say. I always tried to be a smoother and people pleaser, now I wonder what it gained me? People don't much appreciate a wet soggy doormat, do they?

Yesssss!! I’m not married but I would like to date and it would be really nice to know that I can fit into a guys jacket! Love those movies when the woman wakes up next to a guy and puts his shirt on and it looks like a dress. I want that!! Just dreaming over here lol.

We will get there! I'm so glad I found this website. I'm pre op too, and love all of the support I'm seeing here!

Double crossing my legs. I can do it left over right, not right over left yet. (This pic is from google, not me)

I can wear belts, go on rides, shop at any store, play with my kids, wear a swim suit, you name it. Everything is better. The BEST though...going into my doctor with NO SHAME. All my results are great and within normal limits.

  • 3 weeks later...

Health wise I can't wait to reduce my prescriptions, reverse my diabetes, and be able to go see a doctor without having them automatically blame my ailment on my weight. (Hives from an allergic reaction - you're fat, lose weight. Toothache - you're fat, lose weight. Etc...)

Other goals include flying without a belt extender, being able to go on all the rollercoasters at Knott's Berry Farm, crossing my legs like a lady, and being able to buy a women's watch and have it fit.

As I'm preparing for surgery I'm trying to make as big of a list as possible of these types of goals to focus on rather than a number on the scale. I'm also trying to come up with a list of rewards that don't involve food, like getting a mani pedi or buying a new dress or going to see a show.
