Day 6 post op mood

Recommended Posts

So tomorrow will be one week already since I was sleeved and I am ok. I am not mad or regretful. I just feel weird and anxious to see my weight drop.

I can say that I have not had any nausea since day one and no unbearable pain.

It's a weird feeling to feel everything going down and into your stomach.

My sleep situation is getting better because it was hard to get comfy at night.

I did chew some chipotle and spit it out cause I was scared to swallow it but I just wanted to satisfy the craving....the craving....I still have some cravings but it's for the sake of chewing and not actually eating the food if that makes sense. I will be talking to my doctor to let him know about this at my follow up.

My main focus is on hydration and walking at least 15 minutes 2x's per day and increasing it as I can handle it.

I also am trying to practice slowing down when I eat or drink. Easier said than done.

It's hard coming from such a high weight and bad habits to just turn it off.

Mind over matter folks.

I am looking forward to following your journey on here. My surgery is April 2018 and I am so happy I stumbled upon this. That way I can kind of adjust to not only the physical but the psychological changes that are going to come. You're an inspiration. Please keep us updated.

I’m on pre op liquid diet- struggling because I’m soooo hungry! Every 2 hours. 4 shakes and a bar- been eating Jello and had some chicken broth tonight- it’s day 4 pre op. 10 more days till sleeve.

I got hungry on the preop diet and my doctor told me that if I felt hungry I could have veggies and grilled chicken (small portion). Each doctor is different, talk to your doctor. I know the struggle. Dont give up.Good luck.[emoji3]

the urge to chew is real. I'm moving to soft foods tomorrow and off from purees and am super excited. My dietitian did tell me when i went to purees that i could have cottage cheese and just chew it good instead of pureeing it. That did seem to help. She advised sugar free popcicles for crunch. Not sure that quite fills the bill, but they are tasty and initially not just mush :)

Good luck to you!

Congrats on your surgery and weight loss. It gets better after you reach the real food stage.
Changing behaviors takes time. When you repeat small efforts over and over it becomes habit. This will be your new normal. ..hang in there[emoji6]

I definitely know what you mean! I’m 5 days out from my sleeve and it’s so weird not being hungry. Of course I would love to chow down on a ribeye and loaded potato but obviously that’s mental hunger. It is kind of weirding me out. Today was my first day back to work and all I’ve had is a Protein Shake, a half a portion of broccoli cream Soup, a popsicle, and a half a single container of yogurt. And I’ve still got to get 10 more grams of Protein and almost 15 ounces of Fluid before I go to sleep. It’s a weird feeling to physically not be able to eat anymore when we are so used to eating way too much with ease. Good luck and let me know if you come up with any tricks! Haha

I went to Sam's Club today and bought the Premier Protein shakes.

I hate Protein Powder because no matter how you mix it thry still have a gritty consistency. I heard the shakes are creamier and not gritty.

Sams Club sells the 12 pack of shakes for $16.66. I bought the following:
4 banana and Cream
4 Oreo and Cream
1 Peaches and Cream
1 Strawberries and Cream

At 2 shakes a day this covers me for 60 days and gives me at least 60 grams of Protein a day meeting my minimum.

My surgery is April 18 and my liquid diet technically does not start until April 6 however I'm starting a diet of 2 shakes and 1 low carb high protein meal now February 28. This way if I give in I can pick back up and succeed 2 weeks pre op.

I also want to lose as much as I can pre op so I can have an easier recovery.

My HW was 235 and CW is 220. Lets see if I can get under 200 before surgery. I'm 5 feet tall on the dot.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
